Customer Reviews

Undercounter Drinking Water Filtration and Purification System with Chrome Dispenser is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent for the price I decided to get the Pelican Undercounted drinking water filtration system because I prefer filtered water over water directly from the tap. The installation of this system was relatively easy and looks great with my Oil Rubbed Bronze faucet. The water seems to filter nicely but the faucet continues to release water after it is shutoff, although; it eventually shuts off. Ultimately, I feel like the water from my refrigerator door is better because it is colder, but this product does work and is a good value for the price. If you don't have refrigerator water, this is a great value.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Going to Install Reverse Osmosis Instead We installed this in our new home after we moved in. It's just ok in terms of taste and water flow. We thought we'd have a reverse osmosis system waiting for us in the house when we moved in, but the previous owners took it with them, so we decided to try this one. It was simple to install, and does not require a lot of space under the sink (as does a reverse osmosis system.) But for our desert environment with hard water, this doesn't work well enough. It still leaves the water with a hard water/chlorine taste. The filtered water from the refrigerator tastes better than this. The water flow is also not very fast from the countertop dispenser. The hardware is attractive, though. If you need a basic water filter and you already have good-tasting tap water, this might work for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter Easy Install This is a great filter and its easy to install. Everything needed is in the kit and it only takes an hour to install. The kit has an add on valve that installs just above the standard shutoff. Once this is installed its just a matter of connecting a few hoses, hanging the filter bracket and installing the sink top faucet. The hoses just push into the bottom of the filters no tools needed. Now the real test is the water, since this was installed on our kitchen sink and it has always had bad tasting water when its first turned on. Something about the pipes to that one sink in the house. It has a taste of plastic and a sulfur smell. Now no more smell and the taste is gone. This is a great way to insure you have clean and pure water for all your drinks and cooking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy filtration I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the "filter system" that came along with the door mounted ice/water dispenser in our refrigerator. Looking for an alternative I gave this Pelican unit a try and have been really quite surprised. First and foremost the actual filter unit is small and takes up little space under the sink. Installation is beyond easy and only took about 10-15 minutes. The real test for my wife and I was the taste. We don't find the tap water in our area very pleasant and almost never use it as drinking water. This filter made a huge improvement. The taste and feel of the water is really good. We both agree it's better than many of the bottled waters you might get in bulk at a grocery store or warehouse center. We've also made ice with the filtered water and the clarity is much better than what comes from our ice maker in the refrigerator. That being said, you might think to yourself "why not hook it up to the supply line on the refrigerator?" I thought that too but it clearly states in the instructions it's not designed for that. I doubled checked with Pelican, who were very friendly by the way, and they confirmed it's not intended for that application but did steer me to another unit that would. In addition the other unit that would work inline with an ice/water system seems to have a longer filter that what comes with this unit. That might have to be a future purchase for me and would probably sway my vote if I had to do it again. Still, bottom line is this is a great little filter that has made a significant boost in the taste and quality of our water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never buy drinking water again great system This system is easy to install you can also attache it to your existing kitchen faucet if that is what you want. I use the water dispenser as I already had a pre-cut hole in my granite for a soap dispenser . Great taste and the LED light to let you know when to change the filters .
