Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Paul I'm not sure what happened for the guys with the negative reviews......
But this stuff EXPLODED with growth. The area I planted it in is in complete shade all but a maximum of 1 hour/day.
Prepped the soil a little with a rake, sprinkled an even but thick coating of the mixture (not sure it would cover precisely 60 square feet....don't care), and watered it quite well but not what you'd call an excessive amount. On the 2nd day, we started seeing sprouts. We're on day 5 since it was "planted" and the tallest blades of grass are about 5 inches tall with complete coverage and germination.
Kinda don't like the "mulch" they mix in. It's a weird, green fluff, but I'm sure it serves some purpose that I hadn't thought of since I'm not a turf management pro.
Overall, it has worked great for me.

Applied and cared for product exactly as instructed, 30 days later Iâve got about 5% growth. I believe the combination of sandy soil, cold/cool weather, and heavy shade are to blame but the packaging leads you to believe it can grow in all these conditions â it cannot. I would like to see the packaging give more detail on necessary sunlight and temperatures in which it can grow. May work in other conditions, but did not work for me.

Just purchased and used this seed. It took about 2 weeks and TREMENDOUS amounts of watering to get these seeds growing. Once they open up, they do grow quickly, and to a good height. Of note, you'll probably want to use twice the stated amount for coverage areas for two reasons: this grass is extremely fine (fescue), not as dense looking as the St Augustine we have, and two, it appears that only about half of the seeds actually germinate. It will be seen if it stands up to Houston heat, even in the shade.

Used this seed to fill an area in my yard that was bare. Grew fairly quickly with not much watering.

Our yard is bowl shaped with clay and trees all around that make a lot of shade. There has never been any grass there and it has been eroding badly. I decided to give this a try and used about 10 cans to cover 1000 square ft. The problem we have is if it rains heavy it washes everything down into the creek. Set up soaker hoses and distributed this finely over the area in stages. It's been only two weeks and the area is completely covered. Takes about 4 days, and the mulch helps keep the seed from washing away to far. Everyone didn't think I could do it but with this stuff I did. Grass where there was none. The fine texture makes it easy to deal with the leaves that accumulate. I'm probably using more water than most, but without preping the soil I think it was needed. I've even seen it growing on a leaf or two with no dirt. Great work if you got the time to babysit it for a few days. Note that most seeds came up in only 4 days, but some are still coming up 2 weeks later.
