Are the brackets needed to mount this outside the window included ?

Asked by: Anonymous
No. I bought galvanized corner braces from HD for a few bucks.

What type of liners go with this product? If there are liners that are specifically made for this planter, do they have holes that line up?

Asked by: Anonymous
The liners I used were for this type of box so everything worked very well. The only problems I faced were just general wear and tear. Good luck.........

Can this wood be painted?

Asked by: Renee
I see no reason that you couldn't paint these........as a matter of fact I would recommend using a sealer along with paint. Good luck...........

Customer Reviews

36 in. x 7 in. Wood Window Box is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap Cheap Cheap The wood used to construct these boxes is extremely soft and are only held together with staples. No joke, staples. Please read the other reviews and notice references to them being wobbly or broken even when brand new. I purchased several of these for the good looks (the only reason it has received two stars from me), but they began falling apart in only a week or two. I have since screwed them back together in order to keep them functional. Also, you must purchase the separate plastic insert when you buy these. For a total cost of approximately $20 each, I would have expected them to hold themselves together for a little while. Note, I bought two of the 24" models and three of the 36" models. Thats about $100 dollars in window boxes that I had to rebuild. Not a good deal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price Yes it is not as sturdy as the pricey boxes you can get but I got 2 last year on clearance and they are totally worth it. I didn't get the liner box just used empty mulch bags with holes poked as liner and potting mix for the plants. For brackets I used galvanized corner braces. I screwed the box into the bracket only at the bottom and not on the back side. The back of the brace is screwed into my brick wall and the box sits on the bracket. I believe this is the reason why it is still holding up well for me. If you attach the box at the back side when you fill with plants I felt it was leaning forward and the staples can come lose at the back. I'm hoping it will last me a few more years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheap, fake wood, falls apart this thing is made from cheap wood and thin nails which fall apart before you even put it in place were you want it. the nails come out of the wood and the thing falls apart completely. complete garbage and expensive considering it doesn't even last an hour. half of then on the shelf at home Depot fell apart just by sitting on the shelf, just imagine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the money! Read some really bad reviews about the boxes. Was very pleased after receiving them. Like the coloring, the texture. I could have bought some really high quality boxes, that would have cost me 5x's as much. I got what I paid for and am very happy! They weren't falling apart, hole the liners perfectly. A few were a little wobbly and needed some shims to level them out when installing on the top rail of the fence. BUT, they were very inexpensive and I didn't expect perfection! Many compliments on them as well!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These are AWFUL I bought three of these boxes. Working with these boxes has been the most frustrating home project my husband and I have done, and we love working on our home. One fell apart before I even planted it, another fell apart as we were putting it up. Another has a piece broken off and the wood split as we were drilling it into our house. Worst purchase ever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy My wife filled it with plants and as she put the last one in the box completely separated from the back and fell to the ground. Made with too thin of a soft wood and too narrow staples for the job!!! Don't buy them!!!! Returning them today....certainly expect a refund!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You Get What You Pay For We have several windows on which we wanted to put boxes, so we could not afford really expensive ones. Unfortunately, after we filled the boxes, the side on one of them already separated from the back. They look nice, but the quality isn't great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, but don't add dirt or flowers As was stated in other reviews, the flower boxes tend to separate when you add dirt, flowers and water. Each of the corners begin to separate almost immediately and you have to reinforce the major connections. The tacks they use are too light once you add any weight to the box.
