This planter box from the Pennington collection comes as quite a disappointment. Made from 1/2" softwood lumber on the sides and 1/4 lathe legs and a few staples hold the whole thing together. After looking at it I could see it was stained but not sealed so I did that first as to make sure to get than more than one possible year out of it. Also it has two 1/2" holes in the bottom for drainage but also gaps running along the edge, so way too much to keep moisture and soil in without it all running out. You could go and get some moss or other liner, I just modified some plastic and tacked it in with still plenty of drainage. I'm going to have to add some screws to the corners and a strap across the top as the sides have begun to bow and the corners separating. There is not a whole lot of good I can say about this except it looks good in the raw form and if you wanted to use it in your home or office for fake plants, otherwise I would not suggest you purchase unless you add your own modifications before using this as an OUTDOOR planter.
Size is: 40" long, 12" high, 10" deep, tapering from the outside from 11" at the top to 8" at the bottom

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NJ5J Beautiful box planter but stapled together.
When I received this item it looked beautiful. It is quite long and should serve as a nice planter. I am very disappointed to discover that the wood is stapled together. I do not know if the staples are going to hold the box together with the weight of dirt and water added. I am tempted to drill pilot holes and screw in trim screws to hold it together; however, even with pilot holes it might split the thin wood. I wish the wood they used was thicker and had screws used to attach the wood elements. It might be more prudent to build your own box if you have tools and time to do so. I can see apartment dwellers buying this to sit on their balcony. I think this product fills in a need for people who are not DIYers and whose life keeps them very busy. Look at the photos to see the staples. There ya go.

THIS IS A WELL BUILT PLANTER. YOU CANTELL JUST BY TOUCHING & HOLDING IT, THAT ITIS A QUALITY PLANTER. I NEED TO REPLACE A PLANTER FOR AN FAMILY GATHERING, THIS WAS PERFECT. THE BLACK FINISH LOOKS GREAT & SHOULD PROTECT IT FROM THE WEATHER WE GET HERE IN OREGON. 40 INCHES LONG AND 10 IMCHES DEEP WILL HOLD 4 POTTED PLANTS YOU PICKED UP FROM HOME DEPOT GARDEN CENTER.

Expensive junk. Fell apart within the first week of purchasing them. Unfortunately, I misplaced my receipt and most likely cannot return them and get a refund. Very disappointed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BB Worst product I have ever purchased
If there were anyway to rate something with zero stars I would. I purchased this product wanting something different on the deck, what I didn't realize was I would be cleaning up the dirt as one corner burst open. I noticed that staples was the only thing holding the sides together. What did the vendor think they were saving? I also purchased a smaller cousin of this planter which I will also be returning. I won't spend another dime on products from this vendor and neither should you.

I bought to of these planters at $70.00 each. I planted some geraniums and the very next day the back panel pulled apart since mere staples was holding it together. I carefully removed my flowers and soil and returned it and grabbed another that seemed more sturdy. Two days later the other one is falling apart. And now the one I exchanged for is starting to bow and no doubt will be falling apart any day. What a waste. I will be returning asap and hopefully all my flowers survive.

Bought these on Friday, put dirt and plants in that afternoon. It is only 3 days later and the planters are coming are coming apart at the seams! I think Home Depot should refund my money and stop selling such shoddy products!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by FrustratedBuyer Stay Away! Expensive and Cheaply Built.
I had this planter for 2 days before the bottom warped and separated, spilling dirt onto my patio. At day 3, the ends warped and the cheap staples holding the sides together pulled away. A terrible product. I am now in the process of figuring out how to get a refund.
