This bag was almost all mulch, hardly any seed. Way too expensive for just getting mulch.

I had 1600 square feet of new soil on a slope and wanted to get it stabilized before the fall rains. I planted two bags in mid-july which is hot as the dickens here in Texas. I watered every day and never let the soil dry out. Germination began at 12 days and now a month later it is starting to spread. I continue to keep the surface damp and I feel like this is why it worked for me. I am buying more today to overseed an existing lawn that I damaged with broadleaf weed poison. Rake it in and keep it wet folks.

I am very pleased and surprised how thick and dense it grew in. I started by killing the grass in my yard after a week I put down some cheap soil, seeds and starter fertilizer and then added about a 1\4 inch of Kellog's topper. After a little over a week I started seeing sprouts, all I had to do was water. Once the grass starting getting taller and thicker I added more seed to any bare or thin spots. Now the grass is like walking on soft carpet. I attached a picture just to show how thick it grew in. Project was done in Fort Worth, TX

I almost didn't buy this product based on the negative reviews but glad I did. Before I bought the seed, I researched “how to plant zoysia seed” websites. I decided to seed a small area to see if the seed would take. I seeded my area 21 May 2015 using instructions from "how to” websites and not the instructions on the bag. I didn’t use weed killer to prepare my area. I just dug up my existing grass (I didn’t need to till because existing soil was loose), seeded, covered new seed lightly with topsoil, and watered. I live in Texas and the following weeks after I seeded, we had horrendous rain and wind for 2 weeks straight. Even the temperature dropped a couple of nights below 70 degrees. Not expecting much from the seed after that, I practically gave up and thought that I would have to re-seed and re-do that area all over again. On 2 June 2015, I decided to go outside to take a look at what damage the rain had did to my newly seeded zoysia area. I was shocked when I actually saw that the zoysia seed had sprouted despite the bad weather!
I would just say try using different instruction for planting instead of what the bag recommends.

I just planted this product a month ago so I can't see any growth. This does not surprise me as I planted Zoysia grass plugs several years ago and it was three growing seasons before they spread out and took over that part of my yard. Love the Zoysia grass because it is so east to maintain. It just takes a lot of patience to grow it.

Never got any germination. Purchased to overseed bare spots in Zoysia lawn. Not one area produced any germination. This is a big waste of money. Spend the money and use plugs or sod.
