Answer:
Perennial rye is probably sold mostly in the northern part of the country. I use the free ship to home option. I am in the south and perennial rye does not like hot dry weather so I enjoy it from early fall to late spring.

I couldn't get it at my local store so I ordered it for delivery. It showed up in a big box on my porch. That's much easier than going to the store!

The local stores in Wilmington, NC do not stock this grass seed. Some stores will order this grass seed for you but will charge you a special order fee. Better to order from the web site. Hope this helps.

I always have some seed from the previous year. As long as you keep it in a cool, DRY place, it should be good the next year.

Grass seeds normally last 1 -2 years but the success rate decline slightly. Your ryegrass blend is probably good and can be sowed successfully this year if you haven't used a preemergent herbicide.

If you are in zone 6 best time to seed is early fall. Core aerate your lawn before you put this down. Be sure mower blades are set as high as possible.

While many people plant seed in the Spring, Fall is actually the best time to plant seed. During the Fall months the soil and air are at their most ideal temperatures.

“ Yes, Fairway Supreme can be planted in NY with the hot and cold weather. It does better in sunny to moderately shady areas. Early fall is the best time to plant because the soil is still warm which helps with germination."

At this point in WNY,we are having a severe drought, so lawns are dry and brown, but in years past, once the lawn received enough rain, the grass comes back nicely. It goes dormant during the dry season, and then towards fall, it comes back lush and green almost every time. Very dependable grass seed - Pennington Fairway Supreme.

Answer:
The grass normally goes dormant in the summer after the Bermuda grass starts to grow out. It will return in the early spring. It is normally used with Bermuda grass to keep the weeds from growing during the Bermuda's grass dormant period. It will come back each year because it is a perennial blend and not a annual blend.

" Perennial Ryegrass will act as an annual in Southern areas, and begins to go dormant when daily temperatures are 90 degrees or above. In southern states this product will normally not survive a summer and does require reseeding in the Fall "

50 lb. Fairway Supreme Perennial Ryegrass Blend is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 106.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST SEED FOR WNY Have used Pennington Fairway Supreme grass seed for several years now, along with treating with a four-step fertilizer process and my lawn looks good (except during this terrible drought we are having this year 2016). It sprouts quickly and holds up well under heavy traffic and usual heat and rough winters. I will use nothing else in my yard. We have been using this for 10+ years. It is the best seed I have ever used. Seeds bare spots well and I used to overseed in the fall and our Spring grass aways looks healthy and green. You can't wrong with Pennington Fairway Supreme!

We planted in early September to get a longer exposure to warmth for solid growth. Now in early December, we've got GREEN grass after everyone else's bermuda & zoysia has gone fully dormant. Even neighbors with fescue that has been shocked by our first cold snaps have taken notice. I love it and we have gotten a lot of comments from folks asking what we did this year. Easily exceeded our expectations. The only downside to this variety of grass is that we will be mowing throughout the winter. We'll accept that for the best looking lawn in the neighborhood!

I typically purchase another brand of perennial rye grass, but it was out of stock so I purchased the Fairway Supreme. To this point only a very, very small portion of it has germinated. Admittedly I did get it out later than normal, but our fall was very warm and we have had quite a bit of rain. The seed was planted according with the temperature requirements listed on the bag. I am not very impressed to this point and now that cooler weather is moving in I probably won't see any results until spring...it at all. I'm not saying this is a bad product, but I do wish I could get my money back. I really like a nice green lawn throughout the winter but all I have is $100 of seed lying on the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Germination Applied in late September Dethatched and Aerated lawn put down seed put down starter fertilizer applied a little compost watered as needed which was about 1-3 times/week Saw sprouts in less than a week looks to be coming in strong spread seed with a drop spreader following the settings shown on the bag Good quality, definitely would recommend this seed for sunny areas of your lawn

We don't have to do that in Michigan but now that I live in Arizona it is a different story. Any way this seed worked great. I had dirt and then there was grass. Nice grass at that my backyard now looks as good as the golf course I live next to. Great product a little pricy but good.

The grass came up spotty compaired to the grass seed i used last year from lowees. i put the seed down usung the exact same spreader as last year, i even went a little thicker , but it came up bad. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for overseeding I use this to overseed my centipede during the colder months. It is a darker green compared to annual rye which looks better to me, but it still grows pretty fast. It needs to be mowed often or else it'll gum up underneath the mower. It's still worth it to me to not have to look at that brown lawn all winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ryegrass Grass Purchase The package was delivered quickly and very efficient. The content was well protected and as advertised. Thus far, I am completely satisfied with the product and purchase, although I have just began to spread the seed. I would recommend buying this product in comparison to the Annual Rye version.
