What size saucer is ideal for the pot?

I see several saucers on home depot and I was wondering what size saucer is best for this 8" pot. As it is narrow at the bottom of pot, 8" saucer might be too big.
Asked by: swathi
I would probably get the same-diameter saucers because of the thickness of the saucer's rim and how the rim slants to the middle the same way the pot does. I have the 6" saucers, and the flat area where the pot rests is about 4.75" in diameter. I went to the store to buy the 6" version of these pots, and the saucers that were one size smaller (4") barely fit on the bottom. There was no "moat" for the water between the outer bottom edge of the pot and the inner edge of the saucer. It fit snugly like a cap, so you couldn't see the water begin to leak from the pot until it overflowed the saucer. I ended up buying the 6" saucers for the 6" pots. They have at least 1/2" of a moat on either side of the pot.

Since it has holes to drain the water, does it come with a tray or is that sold separately?

Asked by: Reka
All the pots - regardless of size - have a drain hole. If you don't want the water to run out onto the surface that the pot is sitting on, you will need to plug the hole or capture the water in a saucer or tray which is sold separately,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT terra cotta. Weak and brittle. If this was actually terra cotta it would indeed be a great price for a wonderful product. What it IS is something resembling terra cotta (but no guarantee that it actually is) over what appears to be some sort of mortar-based material. The pot didn't crack, by the way - it broke into 4 large pieces after toppling sideways to the wooden surface it was sitting on. Not kicked or dropped, simply nudged enough to allow the high center of balance to tip it sideways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ABSORBS WATER FOR HEALTHIER PLANTS THESE TERRA COTTA CLAY POTS ARE THE BEST FOR YOUR PLANTS. WHY?? THEY ABSORB SOME OF THE WATER AND BREATHE WITH YOUR PLANTS' IT IS TIME TO WATER WHEN THE CLAY POT DRIES OUT, WHICH IS VERY NOTICABLE. I LOVE THEM, MUCH BETTER THAN PLASTIC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great size for container gardening I have used this for the past two seasons on the Bonnie blueberry containers you can purchase at the store. It is the perfect size to transfer the plant into and they really thrive in the terra cotta.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Pot I purchased this to make a DIY project. A wind chime for terra cotta pots. I purchased all of them and the paint from Home Depot. They turned out great! : )

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality ...nice pot, but honestly I can get this at the $1 store for a slightly smaller size (8" vs. 8.5") not much difference but big price difference for the same pot and quality.
