Answer:
Hello,
It will depend on your local climate. Bluegrass is a cool season turf. It can do well in transitional zones but won't thrive as well in warmer southern climates.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
We reached out to MFG for more information and below is their response.
“ Kentucky Bluegrass is a cool season grass and will go dormant once temperatures reach 90 degrees or above for an extended period of time. As this variety matures and establishes it will go dormant less often and for shorter periods of time. "

Can Livestock graze on a pasteur of this seed ?
Some seed companies that put a fungicide shield on the seed specifically state "No - not to be used for Livestock grazing " , since the animals can't digest it, and it interferes with stomach , they can die from the coating put in the seed to fight disease by human intervention in the seeds chemistry structure, when used in a pasteur?

Answer:
Hello,
Smart Seed Kentucky Bluegrass is intended for use as a turfgrass. You should not use it for grazing. Besides the anti-fungal coating It won't have the nutritional content horses, cows, and other grazing animals will need. You should look into forage grasses and legumes to make sure your animals are getting the proper diet.

Answer:
Hello,
The exact seed blend in a bag of Smart Seed Kentucky Bluegrass will vary based on the region and time of year. An example of a blend in the bag would be a combination of Ridgeline Kentucky Bluegrass, Brooklawn Kentucky Bluegrass, Monte Carlo Kentucky Bluegrass, and Mallard Kentucky Bluegrass. Each bag of seed will list the specific blend of seeds.

Smart Seed 7 lb. Kentucky Bluegrass Grass Seed Blend is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product is as good as stated on the package This was my first time buying this product and I used the product as directed. Grass is sprouting up in bare spots as well as some places where I put the seeds in thin areas. Some of my old grass had turned brown over the hot dry summer even though I was watering it on a regular basis. I was impress when the label said it takes less water. The new grass looks as green as pictured on the packaging. The old and new grass has blended in together and it looks great after continued watering. I will continue to buy this product if needed. This is fall, I will see how it will perform next summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be Patient to See Results The product works very well but you must be patient. After 2 weeks, I saw minimal growth and was quite upset. After another 2 weeks, the thickness of the lawn is beyond my expectations. I didn't water every day like the instructions suggest but there was a significant amount of rainfall during the growth period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommend I live in Chicago. I wanted to reseed my yard with Kentucky Blue grass. I tested this Pennington bag in a good sized area. I spread the seed right before we had a good few days of rain. I never watered again. Then about 2 weeks later the grass grew all over the place. I spread Scott's Kentucky Blue grass mix that supposedly coats their seeds to help absorb water, feed it and protect it. I watered that darn seed twice a day for about 2 weeks and the seed barely grew. Went back to Pennington.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST grass seed! I did some research that showed that Pennington had better results than Scotts seed. I used Scotts in the past and was disappointed to find that even the Kentucky Bluegrass they offered was a mix with some other grass seeds, so when my grass came up, it was not the perfect Kentucky Bluegrass I wanted. I wanted all Kentucky Bluegrass, and that's what Pennington gives you. Home Depot delivered it in 4 days, and I gave the 3 bags to my gardener, and voila-- 8 days later, the grass was coming up. (Yard is too large for me to seed on my own.) Kentucky Bluegrass is the finest grass you can have - like the golf courses. This is a pricey seed, but when you see the final product you will know it's worth it. It is usually not in stock in the store. Home Depot offers a great price online, and you get free shipping with a $45 purchase. I highly recommend this seed and you won't get a better price than at Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Product So Im gonna start with all the other products that i used and failed 1.) Scotts® Turf Builder® Contractor's Mix (North). This is the worst product ive ever used, full of fillers and definately not good if you are looking for a lush lawn. It grew in spots first i thought the soil needed some kinda treatment and 1 got it tested from the rutgers (NJ) but it was fine. So definitely it was the seed. 2.)Scotts Turf Builder 7 lb. Kentucky Bluegrass Mix. Another bad product. please save your money. same results as the contractor mix. money went down the drain. Ok so after trying all these I did some research i decided to test the Pennington Smart Seed Kentucky Bluegrass in some patched just because i dint wanted to waste all that money again!!. So after like 10 days the grass came out and now its almost a month and the patched look filled up. After the results I have seeded 10,000sqft. will post the before and after picture soon. so far based on the test this product is worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Great product. Seeds started to germinate within 10 days after seeding in early September 2015. By October all area was green. This spring still green and started in grow longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Seed I got tired of using Scotts brand seed. It had very spotty performance and was not dependable. I prepped by rototilling the area, added sheep and peet, sand, water retaining polymer crystals. I even added some bacteria along with earthworms. SO I over did it. But I planted this seed in Denver Colorado, within 7 DAYS it was germinating. It has completely taken over. Very Pleased. Worth the money. Do not mess with Scotts, buy this.
