I had great success with the Pennington Sun and Shade North Grass Seed this season. After a harsh winter, our lawn was in need of some TLC and this grass seed was just what it needed.

We have used this grass seed in the past with great results.
We re-landscaped an additional area using the same Sun and Shade North grass seed, again with outstanding results. We were very fortunate that we had mother nature on our side providing timely rain falls to augment the fast growth of the seed. We have had to cut the area four times since the planting. We overseeded other areas in the yard resulting in a lush lawn.

Okay. I live in Eastern Washington State and went to Home Depot to pick up one seven-pound bag and one 3lbs bag of seed for about 1600 sq feet. I would seed about 6 lbs of this per 1000 sq feet for a new lawn. I roto-tilled and de-rocked my soil, which was no small job because I had lots of rocks and boulders in the ground when I started. I watered the soil for about a week and re-raked it twice before I planted to let the soil settle after roto-tilling it. I found a really good method to make a leveler drag tool out of 4 2x4s from a guy on YouTube. Boy did that get my ground level easy. Make sure you that the seed is touching the soil (very Key point) and it does germinate a little faster if you rake it in about 1/4 inch only. Than use a tamper or roller to set the seed to the ground and then top with a light dressing of peat moss. Keep the ground damp I watered about 4 times a day. Don't get hung up on it coming up in a week it will take 12-14 days to start showing. I planted in mid April when the temps were between about 40 and 65 degrees. They say that it is bet that the temps be between 45 and 75 for new lawn germination. If you do like this it will be a very good lawn soon as it grows a month or two. I was so glad I picked the Pennington seed because I put so much effort into this lawn and now it will pay off. Do it right with this Pennington Smart Sun Shade North Seed and you will be very happy! Attached Photos of the grass at 18 days from planting.

Planted this seed mix in many prepared spots. It grew fine but had a lot of clover in the mix. I can look out on the lawns and see the spots I seeded because all I see is clover leaves. Not happy with the northern mix.

I have tried several grass seeds over the years and this year I tried three seperate ones. This seed had less filler and more seed than any of the others. It germinated quickly even though the ground was cool. I kept it damp and it grew quickly without any weeds. I had thick grass in about two weeks.

I didn't dig the bare areas very well before spreading the seed but watered it every day. Grass started in 2 1/2 weeks. Did my first cutting and area filled in well. Price was cheaper than other brands. I've ised other of the products and have always been satisfied.
