Don't buy this unit; it is way too small.
Personally I would not buy this unit again. I brought it last week, and have barely seen 1 ounce of water in the tank, and my windows are weeping with moisture. I actually had to use a towel to soak up the water. Don't buy it!

Depending on where you mold is (floor, wall etc) I will tell you what I did. My bathroom had small spots of mold starting on the popcorn ceiling. I used a paint roller with thick cling bleach poured on it and rolled the entire ceiling. Then I put a dehumidifier in that bathroom. So far it's been almost a month and that has taken care of the problem.

Sounds like a recipe for dust mite paradise. You need to dehumidify and move air around. Ceiling fan?
Dehumidifier. Open windows if not allergic to outdoors. If you have a master bath connected to bedroom suggest you get an exhaust fan in bathroom and use that to get humidity out.

We had a mold problem in our master closet (on the leather soles of some shoes and on some clothes) and it spread into our master bedroom. What worked for us was the following:
1. We had a mold remediation guy come out and check the humidity/water in the walls and under the carpet in the area. He found it to be relatively dry. That told us that moisture/water was NOT coming into the effect area through the floor/foundation or the exterior wall. You really need to find out the source of the moisture/mold before you will know how to treat the area to remove the moisture
2. To get rid of the mold spores, we vacuumed the rug (per the instructions from the mold expert) 40 times: 10 times in each direction, like a checker-board grid.
3. Then to prevent recurrances, we bought a portable one-room dehumidifier.
I hope that helps.

The 4 pint dehumidifier has worked well for us. We have an office in an older building that is quite musky and humid . . . This has pulled a significant collection of water out of the air. I have heard no complaints regarding humidity since we purchased this easy to use product. You might want to consider finding the source of condensation and mold too to address proper mitigation if necessary . . .

I would like to use the unit in a 10'x10' storage room that has a drain. I would prefer not to have to empty a reservoir by hand as some times I don't enter the room for weeks. Can I connect the reservoir to a drain via hose?

Answer:
No you have to remove the tank and pour out the water. This small 4 pt container automatically shuts off when full Then the water would get nasty if you leave it. I would not recommend plugging in a dehumidifier and not checking on it for two weeks. You need something larger that has a hose attached to go directly to your floor drain.

My bedroom is upstairs and measures 13' x 11' and the dehumidifier takes the humidity down around 3 percent.
My basement has an LG dehumidifier I purchased in 2010 that has a hose hooked up to a floor drain
which I purchased at Home Depot.
I can't imagine putting this small dehumidifier in the basement bedroom without also having a larger main dehumidifier to take care of the basement.

In a basement yes, you would need a bigger unit. In a bedroom, I would put it up as high as you can (mine sits on a tall dresser) near the water source. If you have a connecting bathroom, put it in the bathroom instead.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Best investment for our RV! We were suffering under extreme humidity in our new RV. So we purchased this item after some research on the internet. We could feel the difference within a few hours. We originally thought that it might be too small; But that has turned out to not be the case: It handles both the upstairs and downstairs quarters efficiently in our 32' 5th wheel RV. We have not been disappointed. And we received it from Home Depot in just 2 days after mail ordering. I only gave it 4 stars across the board because we've not had another product to compare it to (i.e., my ratings are from a conservative standpoint). August 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Home4-Pint Dehumidifier This dehumidifier was the perfect choice for our camper. We needed something to take the moisture out of the air in the camper to keep it from getting moldy when not in use. This dehumidifier was small enough to use for that purpose. July 28, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by done on one Purchased this for our office that is about 10x12. It did do a noticeable job of dehumidifying the air. This place has an exterior door but is air conditioned in Florida. It worked for exactly one year. Yesterday I came in and it was gone, no lights, nothing except the small weak green light on the plug in adapter. I tried plugging it somewhere else, jiggling the parts that sense the water container, and stuff like that. Basically had nothing to lose by then by trying stuff to get it to work again. It does okay, just don't expect it to last. It was a bummer that right when the warranty ends the life of it ends as well. September 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This dehumidifier doesn't do a very good job. Had it plugged in for well over 4 hours and it barely collected a tablespoon of water!! The power cord got very hot as well. It's going back! Was hoping this would work as it would be easier to move from room to room over a bigger model. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great dehumidifier Perfect for the office! Very happy with the performance of this machine. It pulls the moisture out of the air impressively! October 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for what I needed I wanted small dehumidifier so i can move it through out the house. It is small and light, and works great, I could feel the difference after a day. October 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don't collect enough water I don't recommend this product. I've had for about a month and run 24 hours a day even during showers. Have not dumped in a month. These things don't do it's job. Better off purchasing a floor model. October 9, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Died after two years We had this dehumidifier running more or less constantly in our bathroom (which doesn't have any kind of built in vent or fan). It helped slightly in mitigating the dampness of the room. It wasn't particularly quiet (definitely a noticeable hum, which was raspier and harsher right after you emptied the tank). It wasn't really pulling a LOT of water from the air, since the tank was only filling up every two months or so. It recently stopped working entirely, just after the two-year mark of owning it. It appears the connection between the machine and the power cord has corroded or something (it's gunked up, in layman's terms). I am not confident in my ability to safely clean out the electrical components, so I guess it's time to trash it. Overall, I would not buy this again. It wasn't that powerful to start with and it died completely sooner than I would have hoped for the money I paid. I'm looking at alternative models to replace it. September 18, 2016
