Customer Questions & Answers

DOES THIS SYSTEM ALSO SOFTEN THE WATER?

I WILL HAVE CITY WATER AND SEWER (NEW CONSTRUCTION). IN MY PREVIOUS HOME I HAD AN EXTERIOR KINETICO WHOLE HOUSE WATER PROCESSING SYSTEM. IT WORKED GREAT BUT, WAS EXPENSIVE TO INSTALL IN 1999. THIS TIME, I DECIDED TO SEARCH FOR IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY, SMALLER SIZED EQUIP. AND LESS EXPENSIVE EQUIP. THAT WOULD ADDRESS ALL THE REQUIRED NEEDS. BASED UPON THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS THIS UNIT APPEARS TO BE THE ITEM TO SELECT. I AM CONCERNED THAT IN ADDITION TO ALL THE GREAT THINGS THIS UNIT WILL ADDRESS, WILL IT ALSO SOFTEN THE WATER? IN ADDITION TO THE BENEFITS TO THE PLUMBING, MY HAIR AND SKIN WOULD ALSO BENEFIT GREATLY. IS THIS UNIT SIZED CORRECTLY FOR A 4 BEDROOM, 2 BATH, KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY ROOM HOME? THANK YOU TO ALL WHO RESPOND. P.S. WOULD A DIFFERENT PRODUCT BETTER SERVE MY NEEDS?

To get truly soft water I run my filter into a water softener. The filter takes out sediment and some heavy metal and charcoal improves taste, and the water softer removes calcium. I have perfect water now. I would recommend the same for you ... The filter is rated for 95,000 gallons and the company claims about a year of use. You would have to compute your water usage to determine your filter change frequency.

I have a GE water softener , would I install this before or after it . Will the water be drinkable even with the softner

Asked by: nick
It depends on the application and the sediment load, but on a normal city water supply you would locate the filters after the softener. This allows the softener to have the maximum pressure to lift the media during the softener's regeneration cycle. The amount of sodium and salts added to the water will depend on the amount of hardness originally present -- the more hardness removed, the more salt added. Reply with your hardness or well water report and we'll do the math for you. Also, please consult a dietician or physician as to the advisable level of salts for your unique dietary needs. Alternatively, use one of our RO systems to remove the salts and other inorganic contaminants.

Does this work as a calcium filter as well?

Asked by: JasonM
I believe the removal of calcium is what ultimately makes water soft. I run the output of my two stage whole house water filter into my water softener. I only get truly soft water when the water softener is engaged. Therefore I believe your answer is no.

Can this filter out chlorine and chloramine?

Thanks
Asked by: Mike
The company claims it does, and we certainly have no taste in our water after installing the filter.

I've had this particular model filtration system for 2 yrs now and I can say that it has worked flawless! Before I purchased this system I did my due diligence on different brands in this price range and found that this was the best around for what it can do for our family of four. There is nothing about this system to dislike!

I purchased this product, not because our water was bad, but mostly because we have enough sediment to be a hassle. The carbon water filter is just a precaution. It is too soon to rate its performance, but the installation was very easy. It installed in less than an hour. It does not seem to have reduced our pressure in any way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! So glad we bought this product. We have city water and had to buy bottled water for drinking. The city water was ruining our appliances and bathroom fixtures. We even had to hand wash our dishes because the dishwasher left the dishes with film on them. Immediately after install we were able to drink great tasting water, and the dishes are sparkling clean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good water filter system I installed this filter unit myself 10/22/13. My water comes from a community well. The water was brown in a 5 gallon bucket. My faucets and toilet were coated with crud from the water. After using this filter system for 1 year, my faucets, toilet, shower do not have the mineral build up anymore. The water is nice and clear in the 5 gallon bucket test. I drink bottled water so I can't compare taste in before and after comparison. Very nice setup. Not too hard to install. I'm an avid do it yourselfer. I recommend using Teflon Tape on threaded fittings. Then you won't have to fix leaks later. I used 1" PVC with universal disconnect fittings and bypass valves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big help We had problems with our well. Large amounts of sediment and cloudy water. We had our well cleaned out but our water was still stained. The filter took care of it. Also the next time we have trouble we won't have to take apart every fawcet and shower valve in the house to stop them from leaking!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe, easy, affordable solution for clean water & great customer service! This was easily installed and provided our entire home with pure water for everything. It made a huge difference in our water quality and saved us a fortune on bottled water. This product is well-worth the investment, as the filters last a long time, it works great and ensures your water is contaminate free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this water system!!! I have owned this whole house water system for about 7 month now and I love it. I have a very big family so I have to replace the filters sooner than recommended. I originally bought it as a pre filtered for my water softener and got moor than i expected. Its a very good investment on all my appliances as well as really great tasting water. The filter are easy to change and long lasting (depending on your family size).I Will buy one for my aunt and try it with out a water softener just to see how well she will like it. She is not big on water softener but loves great tasting water! So we will see.
