Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be used to waterproof a large tin tub?

I am ready to purchase a large expensive tin tub to put in my garden. I need to waterproof the underneath and the inside to protect from corrosion. I don't need it to look perfect, but just do the job of rust prevention. Will this product work?

11 oz. Clear Plasti Dip is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but not designed for a glossy finish This is NOT a glossy finish plasti-dip it is a clear coat with a matte finish, great if you want to give your chrome a brushed aluminum look then it is great. However this is NOT a glossy finish, and works best on base coats of other colored plasti-dip. It will peel easily but not if used correctly and with 3-5 coats. If you are lookging for a gloss finish then you need to use the glossifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ....? I'm not entirely sure what people are talking about here. The person who got a bad finish, didn't shake it up well enough or clean the surface well enough. Any spray will have small bubbles if it's not mixed well, and especially if the surface is not perfectly clean. (i'm sure he/she would say they shook it for like twenty minutes, they did not.) And spray paint would be better if you wanted it to be permanent, that's not the purpose of Plastidip. Why are you even comparing the two? And if your tip is clogging, clean it between coats. The tip won't clog unless you let it sit for 15 minutes between coats without cleaning it. You expect the coats to dry, but the tip to stay clear with the dip still in it? That makes no sense. After each coat, turn the can upside down and spray it out. Easy enough. If used properly, Plastidip is a great product, covers well, and peels easily when applied correctly. Matte Clear is for clearing over things, or mixing with pigments to make custom colors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor finish I am not sure if it was just a defective batch I received, however the spray's finish was very poor, with small white bubbles coating where I had sprayed. The finish was nothing like it should have been. I will be contacting Performix about this and, at this time, would not recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from clear spray painy is better This stuff is terrible. It does not go well and the tip clogs frequently causing splatter. Maybe if one has time for 35 coats it would look okay
