Answer:
This floor does not wear much and an entry door should prove no problem. However, I would glue it to the floor near the entry door so that it cannot warp.

Answer:
I wouldn't use this floor in a wet environment. Remember that laminate flooring has pressed material below the hard surface. This pressed material is similar to the material on a clipboard. If water gets between the cracks in the planks, you'll get swelling and a weakening of material.
If you want the look of wood, but it's a wet environment, you may want to try the ceramic tile which looks like wood.

Answer:
According to the instructions it should probably not be installed in an area that is subject to heavy moisture. They even suggest a lightly damp mop for cleaning.
You should probably go with a glue down vinyl flooring. It will hold up to water much better and there are several styles similar to the Pergo flooring.

Thank you for your interest. Pergo can be used indoors only at an exit door with the use of a walk-off mat. Expansion space in front of the exterior door should be filled with sealant.

Answer:
The edge of the floor is not rounded. Or another way to say it - take a plank and look at it lengthwise, with your eye level with the plank. Some flooring material has a radiused edge, which gives it a softer look. This floor has a 90 degree edge with no rounding.

Answer:
I would guess that it means that the edges are not rounded. They do have a lip that interlocks with the next plank, It goes together very easy.

Thank you for your interest in Pergo. A square edge plank fits to the edge plank to plank. The alternative would be a beveled edge in which there is a groove between planks.

If the laminate flooring specifies, "No underlayment," does that mean each unit comes pre-padded therefore underlayment purchase is not necessary?

Answer:
There are two types of underlayment. The first one does two things - it acts as a cushion and it keeps water from coming through the subfloor.
The second underlayment is a thin plastic, like a thick trash bag. This acts as a barrier to keep water from coming through the subfloor. With this type of underlayment, you need flooring that has the padding attached to the underside of the planks.

Thank your for your interest in Pergo. Products described as having "No underlayment" have no padding attached and thus padding or underlayment will need to be purchased separately.

We recently had the Pergo Presto Gunstock Oak installed in our formal living and dining area. Can a Shark Steam Mop be used to clean it occasionally?

I have been following the installers recomendation of using a laminate cleaner but like the way the steam mop makes the floors actually feel cleaner.

Answer:
I wouldn't steam this material. The steam can get in the cracks and cause the floor to swell and weaken the material. I recommend just doing a sweep and dry swifter.

Answer:
The manufacturer does not recommend the steam mop. They suggest a "lightly damp" mop. In actual usage the steam mop could probably used occasionally but you would risk voiding the warrantee

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty; Time will tell Very pretty product. Easy to install. I'm an easy to moderate difficulty diy-er who takes on projects during summer breaks while husband is at work. I installed the floor in my kitchen over three days. I couldn't get my refrigerator out of the kitchen, so I had to work around it and wait for my husband to help me move it at the end of each work day. Anyway, my point is, with nothing in the room, I could have completed the whole 245 sq. ft. floor in two days. Several of the boards had a crackled appearance on the back and chipped edges. With an extra box, I had plenty to work with. July 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good floor Except for a few boards that came a little "undone" and had to be used as pieces, it was a good floor. It was tough to start the floor and took almost 3 boards thick before it became easy. February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product, Looks Great I bought 800 SqFt. of this on Black Friday as I was watching this price of this product for a few months. Nearly every Black Friday this product goes on sale for .99 and for the quality of the product you can't beat it. This was my first time installing laminate flooring and it was fairly simple once you get the first few rows down, I will use this product again if it is available to finish the rest of the rooms in my house. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Damages very very easy This is a very pretty floor and looks great, but by no means should you move any furniture once you put the floor in. Even the smallest bang will damage the floor! It's as if the floor is made out of the same type of material used to make those little wood glider planes that you can buy for a $1. Apparently not the same material as the little sample from the store...I hit it with a hammer several times and no damage to the sample..hmmm......The floor was installed 2 weeks ago and already I'm very disappointed. Not to mention upset that we spent over $5000 for this disappointment. I was shocked that it damaged so so easily! Damages in 2 places that now I have to pay to get fixed. Makes us scared to do anything including walk on it! I expected better from all the hype about Pergo floors being so wonderful.....NOT! June 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality For Price. Very Durable. I have had this flooring installed in my home for over 2 years and it has held up against all of the wear and tear. I have two very large German Shepherds that run and slide on this floor everyday and they have not damaged it yet. The installation was simple and we used the recommended tools. Also bought underlayment from Home Depot that had little bubbles on it and the floor makes zero noise when you walk on it. Purchased the recommended overage and didn't use any of it. We had almost no waste. A few pieces were chipped on the corners but those pieces were used as cut pieces so they did not go wasted. Installed about 1000 sq ft over a weekend. My only complaint about this floor is that the shiny texture of the surface makes it hard to keep clean. The floor was installed in the front entrance of the house where there is a lot of natural light so every spot on the floor is visible and I feel like I constantly have to mop. I have had no issues with cupping. My dogs have even had accidents that sat on the floor for hours while I was not home and it did not damage the floor. After two year you can see the seem on the short end for some of the boards but I think this has more to do with the boards expanding and contracting with the change in temperature. I did a lot of research before purchasing this Pergo flooring. I got a sample and made sure it would hold up. The sample was soaked in water overnight, beaten with a hammer and scratched with sharp objects and nothing damaged it. October 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Flooring!!! Amazing transformation of my homes after the install. My sister and her husband are DIYers. I purchased this flooring for my sister in Texas, I live in GA. It was easy the HD guy in Tx on Copeland was great. We surprised her with the flooring she never seen it coming!! Great day for the whole family. January 14, 2014
