Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be installed a entry outdoors ..Other than using a rug are there any other preventive measures to prevent floor issues due to wet shoes?

I also have steps at door
Asked by: star
This floor does not wear much and an entry door should prove no problem. However, I would glue it to the floor near the entry door so that it cannot warp.

What does "plank has a square edge " mean in the product overview section

Asked by: peppy
The edge of the floor is not rounded. Or another way to say it - take a plank and look at it lengthwise, with your eye level with the plank. Some flooring material has a radiused edge, which gives it a softer look. This floor has a 90 degree edge with no rounding.

If the laminate flooring specifies, "No underlayment," does that mean each unit comes pre-padded therefore underlayment purchase is not necessary?

Asked by: Anonymous
There are two types of underlayment. The first one does two things - it acts as a cushion and it keeps water from coming through the subfloor. The second underlayment is a thin plastic, like a thick trash bag. This acts as a barrier to keep water from coming through the subfloor. With this type of underlayment, you need flooring that has the padding attached to the underside of the planks.

We recently had the Pergo Presto Gunstock Oak installed in our formal living and dining area. Can a Shark Steam Mop be used to clean it occasionally?

I have been following the installers recomendation of using a laminate cleaner but like the way the steam mop makes the floors actually feel cleaner.
Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn't steam this material. The steam can get in the cracks and cause the floor to swell and weaken the material. I recommend just doing a sweep and dry swifter.

Customer Reviews

Presto Gunstock Oak 8 mm Thick x 7-5/8 in. Wide x 47-5/8 in. Length Laminate Flooring (605.1 sq. ft. / pallet) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product For The Price This was my first time installing laminate flooring. The previous reviewer did not like the product, but for the price, it seems like a good buy to me. The profesionals that installed the previous reviewers flooring must not have known what they were doing, or they were in a hurry. I did not crack any of the boards while installing them. It is very time consuming to install because of the ends locking together. This was actually a feature that i wanted, but you have to be patient and tap the boards together a little at a time, working back and forth until it lays flat. The flooring actually locks together very tightly. It was a lot of work, but I am very happy with the purchase, and the floor looks great. The sales people were very helpful, and even loaded everything into my truck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the money - looks beautiful I bought this during a pergo sale, so the price was better than excellent. First, the floor looks amazing. The color and texturing are close to what you would expect in a 1950s era home. Second, I installed about a month ago in my living room and hallway so I can't comment on the durability yet. I do have a 60 lb dog, but so far she hasn't caused any damage. Third, I am a handy 31-year-old woman and was able to install this by myself, start to finish (not including prep work), in under two days. The living room was done in 7 hours and the hall and closet took longer because of lots of cuts and some awkward angles. Do make sure to carefully clean the tracks because there was lots of particles that can interfere with the locking mechanism. I found that a old stiff toothbrush worked well for this. Finally, the quality seems very good. In 13 boxes I only found about 3 boards that had minor blemishes in them and was able to use these in closets or other areas where I needed to cut the damaged section of anyway. I did not have to be overly gentle to prevent damage while installing either. The color was uniform between boxes so there was no worry with regards to switching from one box to another while installing. Overall, the floor looks great and I would use this product again, especially at a sale price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!! This flooring was fairly easy to install, looks fantastic, and seems to be holding up great! We used this to cover old unfinished wood flooring in a 1950 home to better sell it. We finished three rooms and a hallway in a week (working between work hours and a toddler). We would most definitely use this product again and recommend it to others!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great, performs as advertised Bought this and installed it by myself. Put in appx 1200sq ft. Very easy with proper floor prep and locking system makes it a snap. I have noticed its very durable and over holidays we got great compliments compared to our old carpet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from satisfied good product for the price. if they lady paid $4000 she was ripped off by her installers. this is a little more time consuming than glue but in the long run the locking is a much better option than glue down. it sounds like they did not know what they were doing if they kept breaking the pieces. you do have to take care but over all it is a good product for the money. i don't think spending more money would have helped her. i had someone install flooring a few years ago & although they were suppose to be professional, it was obvious once they finished that was not true. in laminate you need to be careful & take your time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product We recently installed 500 sq. feet of this product. We are not professionals, but we were able to achieve professional results. The individual planks lock into place with a nice tight fit, and the finish is beautiful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality For Price. Very Durable. I have had this flooring installed in my home for over 2 years and it has held up against all of the wear and tear. I have two very large German Shepherds that run and slide on this floor everyday and they have not damaged it yet. The installation was simple and we used the recommended tools. Also bought underlayment from Home Depot that had little bubbles on it and the floor makes zero noise when you walk on it. Purchased the recommended overage and didn't use any of it. We had almost no waste. A few pieces were chipped on the corners but those pieces were used as cut pieces so they did not go wasted. Installed about 1000 sq ft over a weekend. My only complaint about this floor is that the shiny texture of the surface makes it hard to keep clean. The floor was installed in the front entrance of the house where there is a lot of natural light so every spot on the floor is visible and I feel like I constantly have to mop. I have had no issues with cupping. My dogs have even had accidents that sat on the floor for hours while I was not home and it did not damage the floor. After two year you can see the seem on the short end for some of the boards but I think this has more to do with the boards expanding and contracting with the change in temperature. I did a lot of research before purchasing this Pergo flooring. I got a sample and made sure it would hold up. The sample was soaked in water overnight, beaten with a hammer and scratched with sharp objects and nothing damaged it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed this in my bathroom... I bought a town house that needs a lot of work, but the upstairs bathroom was the worst bit. My father helped me with this flooring and it took him about a full day to do the floor and it looks great. To be fair, he had already done his living room with the same product (in a different color), so he had some experience. But he says that even his living room, which is about 3 times the size of my bathroom, only took him a weekend. I think the bathroom took longer because it's oddly shaped, whereas his living room is just a rectangle. I've had it for about 5 months in my bathroom now and it's holding up great. No scratches, no dents, no issue with moisture at all. When I rip up the carpeting in the bedrooms, I will be replacing all of my floors with this.
