Answer:
No, you must buy the underlayment. You can choose how much you wish to spend and how thick of underlayment you want. The underlayment helps with water repelling and sound absorption.

If we put this flooring in the laundry room and it occasionally gets wet, should it be a concern? Or should I put tile in the laundry room instead??

Pergo that I used in the past manages minor spills and damp mopping with no issues. However, if you experience a major spill, I recommend removing the floor ASAP to allow the floor surface time to dry.

Any laminate will bubble if exposed to a lot of moisture - that's why you should put a moisture barrier underlayment down first. I used traffic master allure in my laundry room, kitchen and bath room. It water proof and look like wood.

I installed this in our sons bedroom. Trust me his spills of soda and water have been of no issue. Though I would recommend getting the sealant they offer for the edges in case you have a water accident that would go to the edges of the flooring. Liquid will not penetrate through the top but if it rolls to the walls then the water can get underneath the flooring and cause mold/mildew or be absorbed by the exposed edges of the flooring material. Other than that engineered hardwood flooring is designed not to allow water to enter in through the seams or top/bottom.
Oh, one more thing. Tile might be better because it is less likely to scratch when moving heavy equipment across it but it is messier to install, harder to repair or replace, and not as attractive as wood in my opinion. Read Less

As long as the floor is a laminate and not wood, I don't think it should be a problem...unless there is excessive water accumulating then I wouldn't suggest laminate in the laundry room.

Answer:
The decision to install a laminate or a tile product is up to you. Laminate floors are warranted if moisture is removed within 30 minutes because the core is HDF (wood based). Laminates also require extra installation steps to help protect your investment.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful finish, love this floor I bought this flooring when it was on clearance at my local Home Depot for about $1/SQFT and I got a steal of a deal! The kitchen, dining room, and hallways of my condo were already in a light maple-colored laminate and I couldn't find that Pergo product or a product that matched it well enough to do the living room so I decided to go contrasting when I found the Williams Cherry by Pergo on the clearance rack. Now that it's in, I kind of wish I had pulled out the old maple laminate in at least the dining room and carried the cherry into that space, too, but the two laminates look nice enough next to each other that I'm still happy with the outcome. Self-installation was easy; the only problems I had were mostly my own fault. The best installation tip I can give is to make sure the pull bar is against the floor before you pound the laminate pieces together. Mine would occasionally skip up onto the interlocking edge so that when I pounded on the pull bar it would end up chipping the surface of the laminate and I would have to redo that piece. I remedied this by putting the pull bar against the floor, sliding it up to the side of the laminate piece and then having someone stand on the pull bar with just enough pressure to make sure it maintained contact with the subfloor/underlayment while I pounded pieces into place. After that method was instituted install when like a breeze and the flooring didn't chip. The only other issue I ran into was that I would open a box and find that the entire box had chipped corners, or damaged interlocking edges. I was doing a large enough area and enough small, fiddly areas (closets), and had enough overage that it wasn't a huge problem and I could use those as my edge or cut pieces or hide them in closets where I wasn't as concerned about having chips in the floor. Just make sure to examine each piece of laminate before you lay it and pound it together. Love this floor. I would recommend it to anyone. March 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a DEAL! We got this on clearance, they had just enough for our entry way. We had never installed this kind of flooring before and it was "a snap" literally. What an easy project with such a beautiful outcome. The snap in feature of making the floating floor I was a bit skeptical of but it worked like a champ and was FAST and easy. September 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value, but quality control issues Very inexpensive, and it looks great when installed. Nearly 1 board in every box had surface laminate imperfections or damage to the connector. Since this is a special order, I recommend requesting one or two extra boxes to replace the bad boards. Return each box worth of unused boards for a refund after construction. September 17, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product! looks great in my living room! We need to change our vinyl flooring to a laminate flooring and this product is great choice and not regretting a bit. So far not a single problem. It's shiny and manageable. I will very much recommend this product to anyone. January 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Look..Great Price..Easy to install Great look for the price you cant possibly go wrong also Pergo is one of the best in the business. Install was easy once you get the feel you dont need to hit them with a mallet your hands are enough. Just pay attention when you buy them there is no bottom to the box so choose good boxes I only had one bad plank out of 5 boxes. like I said once you get the hang of it its smooth sailing. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Black Friday Deal I bought the Pergo Washington Cherry on a Black Friday deal at my local Home Depot and installed it a few weeks later. I don't agree with a previous review about it being cheaply made or poor locking edges. I have installed several different brands of these snap together flooring and Pergo defiantly had a great locking mechanism. Also the bottom had a smooth protective layer and each entire piece is covered in a waxy protectant which easily wipes off. I had no issues with this product and it's beauty is superb. I am actually buying more of this exact product in 2 weeks from this post to do another room. So if your looking for a great look and quality, this is it. March 8, 2013
