Quarter Round questions?

This question is from XP American Handscraped Oak 10 mm Thick x 4-7/8 in. Wide x 47-7/8 in. Length Laminate Floor (314.4 sq. ft. / pallet)

I have two questions with this:
1) I have existing baseboard trim over carpet. Can I just lay the flooring "under" the baseboards, therefore filling the gap and making quarter round not necessary?
2) My existing trim is white (throughout the house). Do I use white quarter round, or the quarter round that matches the floor?

Answer:
Depending on the thickness of baseboard you may not need to add. the required 3/8 space was too much for ours so we added shoe trim to the baseboards to cover possible gap showing and allowing floor to move. The shoe trim matched the base boards and adds a little contour to it which looks nice.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Pergo. You will need to leave a 3/8" gap around all vertical stops in order to allow room for expansion. Typically, this area is covered by a quarter round. The color of the quarter round is entirely up to the consumer, some choose white and some choose to match the floor.

If it has attached underlayment, do I need to put down an additional moisture barrier? I am putting over the top of 1930's original (damaged) oak hardwood.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Floor!! I sold flooring for years and I was worried this floor would look fake but I was wonderfuly surprised. It looks great! July 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome flooring experience I ordered this floor as a whole skid. I was worried about the condition of the floor upon receipt but had no issues at all with quality. The only problem was the delivery driver would not back up on my driveway (which is blacktop). Luckily my brother was here in his pickup to meet the driver and they loaded it into his pickup. The driver was very courteous and on time. The floor itself is beautiful. I have installed several different floors and have not liked some of the laminate floors I have installed in the past and was only looking at real wood floors but this floor caught my eye. It does not look like laminate at all and I am very pleased with how it looks. It looks like real hand scraped wood and the texture of the coating even matches the wood. A few words about installation: I read many reviews that said the planks had many quality issues with chipping and construction issues but I had very few quality issues. I installed 310 square feet and only had a few boards that were chipped, and I just used those in places where I could cut the chip off like a starter or an end of a row. Overall I ordered 10% extra product and I will be returning the entire 10%! One suggestion I would have for Pergo is to make some planks a shorter length because my room was 12 feet wide and the boards are 4 feet in length so I needed to trim some off of each starter or all the seams would have lined up. Make sure you buy and use a puller bar when installing. I used it, with a scrap piece of wood, on every piece to make sure each tongue was seated in each groove and that made installation go extremely smooth. I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am with the look, installation, and quality of this floor. I would not hesitate to install this floor again in another room! April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Flooring This flooring is easy to install and looks great. Also has a very nice finish with excellent wear properties which make it even easier to care for. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love my new floor. Looks great. Love this flooring. We had someone else install it and they had no problems with it. The only issue we had was finding the finishing pieces for the doorways. We found something similar. May 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product Contractor installed this product. No defect or sub-quality issues. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice. Like the flooring very much. The problem is that homedepot doesn't carry much of the moulding to go with the product, such as threshold moulding. So I have to spend a lot of time running around trying to get the best match. I understand that they don't carry everything at the store, but by special order, the whole range of the product should be available. Also, because of the kind of packeging the fabricators use, the prodect is not well protected for the shipping process. Allow for extra waste/returns. September 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by looks like real wood easy to install had one box that had flaws home depot made it good June 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Mind Changer I have always thought solid wood floors were the way to go. A bit more expensive than Pergo, more durable and no hollow sound. I visited a friend, she had recently put Pergo flooring in her home. She never told me all the while all I complemented and raved to her on the beautiful wood floors. As I was leaving she corrected me and said they were Pergo, to my astonishment. A Real Mind Changer. January 8, 2015
