Customer Questions & Answers

Quarter Round questions?

I have two questions with this: 1) I have existing baseboard trim over carpet. Can I just lay the flooring "under" the baseboards, therefore filling the gap and making quarter round not necessary? 2) My existing trim is white (throughout the house). Do I use white quarter round, or the quarter round that matches the floor?
Asked by: RachelP
Depending on the thickness of baseboard you may not need to add. the required 3/8 space was too much for ours so we added shoe trim to the baseboards to cover possible gap showing and allowing floor to move. The shoe trim matched the base boards and adds a little contour to it which looks nice.

Damp mopping is all that's required . Don't subject it to excessive moisture.

If need be, can a plank be replaced after the floor is installed? Is a special tool required?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes ,but it would be a LOT of work, I would repair it and learn to like it if at all possible 1st. To take a plank out of the middle you would have to take out half the floor and trim to get back to that point.

Coordinating Moulding

What moldings and stair nose would coordinate with this? Is it possible to get trim samples? Thanks..
Asked by: Gordy
There is moulding that goes along walls, wider moulding for doorways, and even moulding to lay down at thresholds. You can save a bit by simply telling them you want the floor installed under the threshold.

Great product that was easy to install as long as you use the kit that is recommended which makes the boards seat together nice and tight. 4 hours to install in a 24' x 14' room and it looks fantastic. I would use this product again and would recommend to anyone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor quality control 09/2016-About 1/4 of my order had spots along one edge of the planks where the finish did not take. When they were laid, it looked like the floor had white stripes. HD agreed to take the bad ones back, but we did not have 2 weeks to wait for a new shipment and have the shipment acclimate. My builder put stain on the bad planks he needed. Will be returning 7 boxes. There were about 20 boxes that were bad. Very disappointing and agravating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as bad as I thought When I started the project to put these floors in my room it was rough trying to figure out how to lock them together properly. Once I figured out after connecting them all I had to do is hit them with the rubber hammer in a angle toward the other connecting piece, they just fell into place and I was ready for the next row!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 6 bad boxs Had 6 boxs worth out of 35 boxs bad. Really need to look them over. Not really happy about that. With that said it seems to look nice time will tell if the flooring holds up. The packaging need improved and need to be more careful bout shipping them not sure if thats homedepos fault or shipping company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flooring looks great and requires minimal care. Self-installed 42 boxes in living room/dinette area and hall last month. Too early to know how it will wear but has impressed us and visitors. Installing in the hallway with four doorways was time consuming but worked out well and since there were many cuts, overall had a couple boxes of waste. Purchased the installation kit and dead blow hammer and had to special order transition strip to kitchen--not stocked. On downside, half a box of pieces were defective which were returned to store and credit readily given. We feel that this flooring was the best solution for us and are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The flooring made a big change I laid the flooring in three bedrooms and hallway replacing carpet. It looks and feels great. I am not a professional installer and there are a few areas that could have been done better such as around corners of door openings but that is not a concern of mine. Following the instructions is important and not difficult to understand. Removing the carpet, removing, repainting, and replacing the floor and door molding, preparing the concrete floor, and placing the planks took this 70 year old about a week to complete. I am very pleased with the product and hope it lasts and is good looking for many years.
