Customer Questions & Answers

Quarter Round questions?

I have two questions with this: 1) I have existing baseboard trim over carpet. Can I just lay the flooring "under" the baseboards, therefore filling the gap and making quarter round not necessary? 2) My existing trim is white (throughout the house). Do I use white quarter round, or the quarter round that matches the floor?
Asked by: RachelP
Depending on the thickness of baseboard you may not need to add. the required 3/8 space was too much for ours so we added shoe trim to the baseboards to cover possible gap showing and allowing floor to move. The shoe trim matched the base boards and adds a little contour to it which looks nice.

Do I need a moisture barrier?

If it has attached underlayment, do I need to put down an additional moisture barrier? I am putting over the top of 1930's original (damaged) oak hardwood.
Asked by: RachelP
Thank you for contacting Pergo. There is no need to use a moisture barrier on a wood subfloor.

Does this match the Pergo Select Lacquered American Oak(PS50398)?

Asked by: SarahP
This product does not match the PS50398 which was discontinued many years back and since that time decor colorization , texturing and joints have changed greatly. We recomend that you secure samples of decors you like and assess in your home with your existing flooring. thank you for your continued support of Pergi flooring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Mind Changer I have always thought solid wood floors were the way to go. A bit more expensive than Pergo, more durable and no hollow sound. I visited a friend, she had recently put Pergo flooring in her home. She never told me all the while all I complemented and raved to her on the beautiful wood floors. As I was leaving she corrected me and said they were Pergo, to my astonishment. A Real Mind Changer.

Great product that was easy to install as long as you use the kit that is recommended which makes the boards seat together nice and tight. 4 hours to install in a 24' x 14' room and it looks fantastic. I would use this product again and would recommend to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome flooring experience I ordered this floor as a whole skid. I was worried about the condition of the floor upon receipt but had no issues at all with quality. The only problem was the delivery driver would not back up on my driveway (which is blacktop). Luckily my brother was here in his pickup to meet the driver and they loaded it into his pickup. The driver was very courteous and on time. The floor itself is beautiful. I have installed several different floors and have not liked some of the laminate floors I have installed in the past and was only looking at real wood floors but this floor caught my eye. It does not look like laminate at all and I am very pleased with how it looks. It looks like real hand scraped wood and the texture of the coating even matches the wood. A few words about installation: I read many reviews that said the planks had many quality issues with chipping and construction issues but I had very few quality issues. I installed 310 square feet and only had a few boards that were chipped, and I just used those in places where I could cut the chip off like a starter or an end of a row. Overall I ordered 10% extra product and I will be returning the entire 10%! One suggestion I would have for Pergo is to make some planks a shorter length because my room was 12 feet wide and the boards are 4 feet in length so I needed to trim some off of each starter or all the seams would have lined up. Make sure you buy and use a puller bar when installing. I used it, with a scrap piece of wood, on every piece to make sure each tongue was seated in each groove and that made installation go extremely smooth. I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am with the look, installation, and quality of this floor. I would not hesitate to install this floor again in another room!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Look In Flooring! We had this put down in our study, looks great. Features of the flooring make it look old and interesting, therefore making the room even more interesting upon entering.
