I have 374 square feet to cover. What is the total number cases I should order? bob
Asked by: bob4two
Thank you for your interest in Pergo. Each carton of Country Natural Hickory covers 13.74 square feet. In order to determine how much product is needed, you will need to measure the length and width of the room. Calculate the total square footage and add 10% Waste Factor to the total square footage for each room.We recommend that you should purchase 30 cartons.

Does this laminate flooring look like typical laminate flooring up close or does it look more like hardwood flooring?

Asked by: Crystal
Thank you for your interest in Pergo. Pergo floors use the most realistic looking wood designs to make it emulate the look of real hardwood. I would recommend ordering a sample first to see if it will fit with your design goals.

Any suggestions on how to do stairs with this product?

Any suggestions on how to do stairs with this product?
Asked by: Juliana
I do not have any stairs in my house, but I would think about putting the matching Hickory under the door molding on the leading edge of stair step to cover up the exposed edge of the flooring and put the cut edge up against back of step. just my ideal I used that molding under my bathroom door as my bathroom is vinyl floor and used panel glue to hold it in place and it looks great. And it is not that high and is a smooth transition on to my new Hickory floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected The floor was easy to install and looks great. I ordered an extra box, but only had about 3sf of waste. Every piece was used. I recommend using the "tap" method.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice floor. I would like to share my experience in hopes of helping others considering this flooring. This was my first time taking on a flooring project although I am probably an above average skilled amateur woodworker/carpenter. I am also thrifty which was somewhat to my detriment. First consideration is how much to order. I needed 9.25 cases and ordered 10 which is a tad below the suggestion of ordering 10% extra. While awaiting the shipment I received a call that one case was damaged so a replacement was ordered. When I got the order I found they were not packed very well and instead of one damaged case I found the bottom piece of five cases damaged. Home Depot allowed me to swap out the damaged pieces from the previously reported damaged case. My suggestion is to order at least a spare case in anticipation of some shipping damage. In the unlikely event there is no damage you can always get a refund on the extra. Next I read and reread the instructions as well as watched the installation video. The instructions and video both highlighted the method of angling each piece into the previous piece. I noted on the video they had a difficult time with this method in keeping previously laid pieces tightly together. Sure enough after struggling with my first three rows I found each subsequent piece angled in disrupted others and I was constantly working back to close gaps. I reread the instructions and than noticed at the end a brief discussion of the alternative tap method. Here you lay the piece flat and tap it into place. This worked very well and had the added benefit of each tap further tightening previous rows. I used a rubber mallet and found most pieces went together with a gentle tap. If it needed more muscle I used a scrap piece as a block. I did not damage a single piece using this method. USE THE TAP METHOD. Trying to save a few dollars I did not buy spacers to keep the flooring the appropriate distance from the wall. I had numerous pieces of 3/8" plywood handy and I used that. Big mistake. As it turns out my plywood was warped so my gaps varied from 3/8" to 5/8" which created problems with my 1/2" base trim covering the gap ( I did not wish to use quarter round). As you are laying the floor step back on occasion and look at your random pattern. If you don't you may find it's not as random as you would like. I ended up with two identical pieces next to each other, fortunately the bed will be covering most of it. Also as you lay each row keep an eye on previous rows as gaps can arise. If you catch it soon enough, usually a tap or two will correct the problem. If you wait to long its difficult to close gaps that exist several rows back. Like most projects there is some trial and error involved. I feel if I had to do it again I could lay this floor in a day. As it was it took me two days to do a 9'X10' room with a closet and small adjacent hallway. The results are very nice and I would highly recommend this flooring.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pergo laminate Had several planks with some strange pattern embedded in plank. Almost like a label was laminated into the plank instead of wood looking. had excess material in tongue areas of most planks. Made job frustrating.
