Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Pergo. Laminate floors can be installed directly over flat, level vinyl. A moisture barrier should be used between the vinyl and laminate if there is a concrete subfloor.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pergo xp Cross Sawn Chestnut We replaced our old carpet down stairs with this flooring. It is easy to install and looks great. I cut it with a 60 tooth carbide blade on my table saw. Also used a down cut blade on a jig saw. We glued the transitions down with contractors cement September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Warning! Do not use a steam mop. We purchased this for 3 rooms and had it installed by the Home Depot contractor. We were told we would receive care instructions from the contractor but were only given info on vinyl flooring. I printed off the Care and Maintenance info from this site but it doesn't say not to use a steam mop with a laminate setting. After cleaning the new floor several times it looks dull and smeared. I used only the light steam and a spray bottle with water/vinegar as recommended. I then checked the actual Pergo website and there is a warning not to use steam mops on their floors! You would expect that to be on the Home Depot product page, or even on the box of laminate. So now waiting to hear from Home Depot what I can do to remedy this (if anything) or if my new floor is ruined. Not happy with the lack of information from the associate, the installer, or the HD website. April 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Laminate Great price with on time delivery. I would highly recommend purchasing your flooring from Home Depot. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NICE FLOOR Delivery went good.Floor was prepared. Took about 5 days to put down 650 sq ft. looks very good. Put in kitchen so caulked everywhere water might get to it underneath.Put living room so all is connected worked well.Have some left so going to do a bathroom .Also did hallway so now all will be same. Bedrooms are carpeted that is next and one more bath.Had lots of cuts lots of dust but no problem with that.Went well looks great. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase Ever~ This laminate is stunningly beautiful and hardy. It meets or exceeds all reviews and manufacturer's claims. All who see it want the style name and the brand. The color is a rich, warm caramel, and will compliment any decor. The pictures of it do not do justice to it. And it is amazingly easy to keep clean. I use a mild cleaner or a touch of white vinegar to clean this laminate. CSC is very durable. We have two dogs and several cats and after one year there is not a scratch or ding in the floor. I can not say enough about this floor except to say I love it, and I like it more today than a year ago because it is better than advertised and should I need flooring again, this is the one I would choose~*~ August 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Made the right decision! We've spent a couple of years researching wood flooring. Traveling to stores to "touch" samples and try to imagine how it would look in our house. We have 3 VERY active Beagles. They love running at full speed from outside, through their doggie door, around the house and back outside again. 10 minutes of full speed and then it's nap time. We were interested in the Pergo brand because of the Great Dane on the company website. Wasn't sure if this product was for real. The more we looked, the more we kept coming back to Pergo. We love the Cross Sawn Chestnut! We have 3 bedrooms to do, so we will be sticking with Pergo. January 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely worth it. This product was very easy to install. It just took a day to install in living room, dinning room and hallway. It looks good and feels good when walking barefoot. Friends and family said they are interested in this product. July 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installed April 2015- Happy so far - looks great My wife and I installed 350 SF of the Pergo XP Cross Saw Mill laminate over a basement concrete floor. It goes together really easily. We've done two other laminate floors in the past and this one seemed to be the easiest to install. It looks really great. Having the pad already attached is convenient, although the pad could have been thicker. We put some leveler down on the floor which definitely helped, but was a lot of work. I noticed one or two spots in the floor after it was installed which feel a little squishier when I step on it, which is probably due to it not being perfectly level. So if you do install this over concrete be sure to take extra care in leveling the floor before installing. Also be sure to put down a vapor barrier over concrete. We used cheap plastic 6 mil stuff that came in rolls about $13 each. Don't spend too much on this stuff, it's essentially contractor bag material in a roll. Cutting and measuring isn't fun, but being our 3rd floor this was definitely our best work. We laid it in a pattern that came out great. We basically laid a full board in the first row, 3/4 of a board to start the 2nd row and 1/4 of a board to start the 3rd row. In the past we didn't pay as much attention to the lay pattern. You probably end up wasting a bit more, but it's worth it knowing the floor should last you 10+ years. Overall happy with the look and the how the install went. Would definitely recommend.
