i was looking to instal this and not remove certain wall moldings(floor) looking for advice

Asked by: tony
Tony, our installer left the baseboards in place, where they weren't damaged, and added a "quarter round" to fill the 3/8" gap between the flooring's end and the wall. It's like a tubular length of wood, cut lengthwise so it fits up against the 90 degree angle of the floor to wall.

DOES THE WIDTH MEASUREMENT INCLUDE THE TAB OR IS IT SURFACE ONLY?

MY LAMINANT MEASURES 7.7/8 WITH THE TAB ON THE SIDE, AND THE LAMINANT ON YOUR PAGE I LOOKED AT SAYS IT IS 7.5/8.

We have two prices for designs displayed, in stores and online both are the same product is it best to order online then pick it up at my local store?

Asked by: Anonymous
I ordered on-line and shipped to my local store. It was cheaper than purchase in the store (plus I picked a rare color/design) and I didn't have to worry about delivery to my home while I was away at work.

I did the installation myself with home handyman tools (table saw, etc.). Follow the installation instructions and watch some YouTube videos. Level the floor, put down vapor barrier. I removed the baseboards and reinstalled over the prescribed gap so I didn't have to add a shoe molding. Installation looked great. I have real oak in the rest of the house and this very closely matches the other flooring - I wanted laminate in my office because of heavy traffic - office chair wheels, etc.

The quality of this flooring is what we expected but a bit darker than it shows on the online sample. We put it in a remodeled bathroom and it went down easily and looks rich. We are very satisfied. Thanks to Home Depot, and their helpful staff we have a nice new lovely bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pergo xp Was very happy with product and end result. I prefer pergo xp over other laminates hands down. Easy to install, underlayment is already on the product and joints are always tight. Have used this product in the past and will continue to use in the future.

I purchased this product to put in a small 2nd floor bedroom which is 11' X 11' only. Before putting down the laminate, I used and placed the recommended 3mm vapor barrier pre-floor covering. Using this foldable pre-made vapor barrier is very easy, and went down in less than 30 minutes. The Pergo flooring took a weekend, but the results are excellent. The flooring looks great, feels tough, and locks together. You will need to use the wall spacers to provide enough room for expansion, and a good quality table saw to cut some of the boards to appropriate length. If you follow the directions or look at a YouTube video things should go well.

The product looks great, 5 stars, installation is 3 1/2 stars, but the quality control from factory was 1 star. I've installed different grades of laminate and was upset with the amount of fabrication errors from the factory. Installed 18 cases, 6-8 pieces varied from the correct width of 7 5/8" to 7 1/2", consistently on the left side of the plank on the "groove" face. Slowed down the install watching for bad planks or removing them once installed. They can be returned for refund but it's another trip costing time and money.

After installing it my first thought was "not impressed". The pieces didn't snap together. I had to push fairly hard to work each piece into the joint and yes I was working to the instructions and going in at an angle. I also found the side joints to be uneven, there was definitely a very small step between pieces that you can feel with bare feet. I have worked with other laminates (from Costco of all places) and did not have any of these poor quality issues. I have to say it does look good when looking down on it but up close I was expecting a better fit from Pergo, I just hope it holds up over time. I did like that it had the underlayment already attached to it. I would probably look at other brands in the future.

The way you have to lift the whole row of flooring to lock it in is absolutely impractical. We had a huge floor area and had to return the product as it did not lock properly and there were huge gaps. Terrible design. We had the old setup in our dining room (Pergo August oak from a few years ago) and we loved it. This is terrible. Can't imagine how people successfully install it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XP Pergo - As Advertised I purchased 14 boxes of XP Grand Oak to replace carpet in the master bedroom. Of the shipment there were three planks out of the 112 purchased that had manufacturer defects - very reasonable rate. However, the shipment was made on a wood pallet in such a way that the pallet slats crushed the underlayment on the bottom plank of five boxes. The instructions received with the product are good and additional information is available on the Pergo site. The assembly process is pretty simple and straight forward. As with all laminate flooring, it is essential that the install be continually checked to make sure that all joints are tight and remain that way. I consider this a very good product. It looks very good and meets all of my expectations. If a person is handy with tools and properly repairs any issues with the subfloor it produces a very attractive floor. If you plan to DIY be prepared to sand and apply leveling compound to meet the flatness requirement for a correct install.
