Customer Questions & Answers

I have a large dog. Does this flooring scratch easily. If so, can scratches be repaired?

Asked by: Anonymous
We have two large active Siberian huskies and our floors look great! We purchased the XP because it is rated to stand up to this type of animal traffic.

Base boards are white can I use white 3/4 quarter round or should i use the matching quarter. Matching quarter is quite exspensive for 7 ft.

Asked by: Anonymous
I kept the same baseboards and bought unfinished quarter round and stained myself. Just took a minute to stain. I have had this flooring for 2008 and it is still in perfect condition. It stands up to pets; I have a 100lb choc lab, not a scratch.

What is your recommondation on floor vents?

Would I use our metal vents or is there a corresponding vent used with Highland Hickory?
Asked by: Anonymous
I used bronze metal vents. They look great.

I have a puppy trying to house break,he has accidents will this stain this?

could you tell me a flooring that won't stain if I spill liquid or my puppy has an accident
Asked by: meme
No, it won't stain. It's tough just like a Formica counter top. Although the seems are very tight, you don't want to let it sit on the floor too long so it can soak in.

It looked great when done, was easy to do. I liked the fact that when shopping for flooring, I took samples home and this stuff I could not scratch with a key. When reading the warranty, everything sounded great, So I went with it. It has been about a year and I have 4 trouble spot fading like something was spilled on it...but don't know what. 3 spots are bubbling up at seams like it got wet for a period of time. Also have 2 spots that pulled apart for some reason...not too big of deal that I have to fix these spots, just the fact that I have a day in ripping up over half the floor to repair them and hope it goes back together fine. The spots are in high traffic areas. However I don't walk across the floor with wet shoes and just use a mop that spritzes cleaner on the floor then a pad dries it up very well. I called the company which stated I needed to call Home Depot to file a claim, who tried to say I needed to call company who makes it AGAIN, so I asked them to call, and they did and said I would need to file a claim through Home Depot. Also warned this would be a long drawn out process. And now just waiting for a call to tell me weather or not it will be warrantied or if it needs inspected. Its been over 2 months. For all the hassle I wish I would have gone with real wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flooring Looks beautiful and it is strong. I have heavy furniture which had to be moved around and at one point it was moved across the floor with no furniture pads underneath. I was sure the floor would have scratched but there wasn't a scratch in sight! Looks like real wood as well and the texture is great. Color online is pretty accurate to actual color too. I would definitely recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty easy to install Did our lower level 2 years ago using contract installation crew / no specials this time around so I decided to do my upstairs myself. Much to my wife's dismay !!! It's pretty simple with the tongue and groove planks just takes time and picking up the right tools. The flooring itself is good looking and pretty resilient. Resistant to scratches and water as long as it doesn't get soaked. We put the plastic felt lined casters underneath all our big heavy furniture and it cleans up pretty easy with a damp mop using no chemicals. As far as kids and normal traffic is concerned. Sorry I have no pets so I have no feedback..... all in all we like it.

Ten years ago I put down the best laminate that I could find from Pergo in my entrance way and living room. It has served me very well. No complaints. Therefore, when I decided to re floor my dinning room I looked for Laminate in similar colors from Pergo and I found this Highland Hickory. (The previous laminate that I used had been discontinued.) I purchased a box and laid it out next to the old laminate. I was shocked how much more realistic it looked. I liked to so much that I not only used it for my dinning room but I also put it in my living room and entryway so that all three areas have the same flooring. (I moved the old laminate from my living room to my office and covered it with an area rug.) For some advise, be careful how you lay your moisture barrier. Ten years ago I used the rolls with adhesive strips. But I found that this was very difficult to lay perfectly flat. Therefore, this time I changed to using a single sheet that will cover the entire room. Doing such greatly reduced the sound of plastic "crackling" underfoot as I walk across the installed laminate. I noticed this "crackling" 10 years ago when I first did the install. It lessened over time. This small adjustment with using a single sheet did make a difference. But even with the single sheet, it needs to be stretched out as much as possible to avoid trapping excess plastic under the laminate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor We just installed about 800sf. It looks terrific. We almost went with Prego Outlast instead for reportedly better water resistance, but went with the Pergo XP Highland Hickory because we really liked the finish. Also, I soaked a piece of the XP in water overnight with no noticeable problem. Not sure how accurate a test that is, but for our non-kitchen, non-bathroom use, it was convincing enough. I'd buy the installation kit made for it because we used a hammer block from a different brand and it didn't line up perfectly with the shape of the pergo. We had only one chipped piece out of 60 boxes. I liked this finish also because there is no easily discernable repetition in the boards.

The snap together end joints are garbage. It's hard to get them to lock, but at first it was fine. After a few weeks they started making noise, and 4 months after the install about a dozen of them are creaking, popping, and snapping. We put in a warranty claim, and it was denied. They claimed it was installation error due to not enough expansion gap. I removed a quarter round by one of the bad joints, and there is easily 3/8" if not more gap between that row and the kitchen cabinet. We wasted nearly $2000 on this stuff. Buyer beware--heed the other 1 star reviews. The joints are faulty, and they do not stand behind the warranty at all. DO NOT BUY.

Not only is it tough, but it is really beautiful; guests didn't believe it wasn't a wood floor. The online photo doesn't do it justice. Clean up is a snap using a Swiffer floor mop. Now I don't have to worry about taking my shoes off every time I come in the house and worry about scratching up the floor. I highly recommend Home Depot installers. They were very professional, quick, great installation and clean up.
