Steam Mop

Hello, is it safe to use a steam mop (Shark) on this laminate floor?
Asked by: Courtney
Thank you for your interest in Pergo. To clean, an occasional damp (not wet) mop, quick sweeping or light vacuuming with the hard floor attachments are usually all it takes. When damp mopping, an ideal solution is a combination of 1 gallon of warm water with 1 cup vinegar or ½ cup of ammonia. A spray bottle with the same water and vinegar/ammonia solution mentioned above is a great way to spot clean between moppings. Pergo floors must never be waxed, polished, sanded or refinished and never use a steam, wet or jet mop when cleaning. Do not use soaps, detergents, or cleaners with wax because they may leave a film, dulling the floor.

Customer Reviews

XP Homestead Oak 10 mm Thick x 7-1/2 in. Wide x 47-1/4 in. Length Laminate Flooring (19.63 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointment The actual color does not match the online photo at all. The quality of the planks were so poor that the planks were damaged and chunked up inside the box that was sealed directly from the manufacturer. The laminate on top is super duper thin (less than a sheet of paper) but they bend it slightly over the corners/edges to make you believe that it's thicker than it actually is. The only thing good about the experience was that Home Depot allowed me to return them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laminate! Great Quality! We loved this flooring! Bought it without seeing it in the store, just photos online, and we are SO happy with how it looks. Looks like real hardwood, no popping noises, great quality. The main photo online looks much lighter than it is, but user photos online helped us see the true color. Very sturdy, looks high end!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pergo Homestead Oak Product looks good on the floor and was easy enough to install. the color was a little darker than what was shown on the website. Job would have a little easier if some of the flooring wasn't damaged in shipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really a great product Put this in my living room 4 years ago, looks as good as new still and I have two dogs. Like it so much I did the rest of my home with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference My brother wanted to redo his basement floor with your Pergo flooring and it really came out great. We also removed the paneling and installed your bead board in place of it. Everything came out great. We were happy with all your products. I included some before and after pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pergo XL Homestead Laminate Install The Pergo XL Homestead laminate install was done very professionally by Home Depot contractor, Romanoff. It totally changed the look of the whole house. The quality and style added beauty and value to the home. The variety of wood tones in the flooring is just what we were looking for in our home décor. We made the right choice with Home Depot and Pergo XL.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what i was looking for We looked at a lot of flooring before deciding on this one. It is in our dining room and living room. It took my husband about 3 days to do both rooms pretty much by himself. Mostly because they are odd shaped rooms and required tons for cutting and the floors needed a lot of prep work. We didn't use extra underlayment in the dining room and now I wished we had gone ahead. We did in the living room because we needed a vapor barrier and the difference is very noticeable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth it We just had this flooring installed in our home about 3 months ago. We have two dogs who are mostly inside and so far no damage has been done with their claws. The color is absolutely gorgeous but does appear to have a lot more red in it in person as well as have a darker appearance. We had Home Depot install the flooring. My only complaint with the flooring is that here and there in some of the pieces there have been little tiny chips of the top of the flooring that have come off. Not sure if this is a floor faulty or an installation issue.
