Flooring will be installed after the cabinets are in position but before the appliances are put in place. French door fridge weighs over 500 pounds. Can this be moved the 10 feet from the entry to its placement without scratching the floor or breaking chips off the end pieces of flooring?

Answer:
I moved a piano about the same distance over my laminate flooring by rolling the piano into position as soon as that part of the room was put down. I placed several planks from the bare floor to the finished floor right where the piano was to go. Then rolled the piano over the planks into position. No marks, no popped joints, perfect. Good luck.

Answer:
My suggestion with moving any appliances, furniture, and/or other items you can't carry is to lay down cardboard or thin blanket covered by thin plywood to prevent damage. Or lay down & tape several layers of heavy construction paper(available in large rolls) & cover the floor. Do not use any furniture dolly or cart that has hard plastic wheels.

Thank you for your intererest in Pergo. We do not recommend sliding the fridge across the floor as this could damage the planks or joints. The floor should be lifted into place when possible.

Does base molding need to be removed? How do you use spacers with the base molding still there?

On the installation video on the Home Depot website, it shows an example leaving the base molding in. I'm in favor of this as it will save considerable work, but does one just place a spacer angled under the molding and against the Pergo boards?

I did leave the baseboard intact and used spacers between the base and the flooring. There is a matching Pergo quarter round molding available to attach to the base. The quarter round finishes the job by covering the gap and it really looks good.

I watched the video as well. I don't remember the recommended gap, but I did combine the spacers that I purchased at Home Depot along with the Pergo flooring to achieve the required space between the baseboard and the laminate. I did not have to angle the spacers. I simply stood them against the wall/baseboard and ran the laminate right up against the spacers.
And yes, it did safe a lot of extra effort. Read Less

Can't answer why HD video shows base molding in place...however you need to remove it....just common sense to get a clear understanding of the amount of expansion room you have to the solid wall. I kinda had your mentality when I started the project and then quickly learned I had to remove them.......the molding helps cover up the board to board gap differences also.....you will understand...trust me.

Answer:
Foam underlayment is attached to the flooring. It made the install faster & less expensive since I didn't end up with a partial roll of underlayment required by other manufacturers.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 72 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rebound I love the floors. I placed 3 orders of this floor. As my previous post stated the second order was not great. It seems they got their act together on my last order. You can always return bad lots at the store. Overall final product. Great!! August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Floor This floor looks beautiful. I liked that it had the special padding on the back of it already. It does seem to be good quality but this is my first one so I'm not 100% sure. I didn't install it myself but my contractor had some trouble with interlocking pieces breaking off so make sure you buy an extra box. Finally, I only gave it a good value because I think everything priced today is so expensive but didn't think this product was too bad. February 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mismatch I purchased a pallet and a half of the Kingston Cherry Laminate flooring. The first order for the floor was uniform and beautiful. I ordered some xtra cases for another room. The cases where delivered with the plastic wrap so tight it broke some of the thin corners. I lost a box and a half. The other thing noticeable was they varied in color. I have not finished the install because I am contemplating the removal of the floor from the second delivery not being of the quality of my first order. This is bad quality control. July 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good quality floor! This is my first Pergo floor and installed it about 1 month ago. So far I'm very pleased with everything from ordering, in-store customer service/pickup, installation(saved money with the attached underlayment), and looks. I look forward to many years of use. I would highly recommend this flooring and Home Depot. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Missing some of the imprint I have included a picture of 4 planks that came straight out of the box. Do they have any quality control. I emailed Pergo and they want me to return it to the HD where it was purchased. In Vermont that is an hour away. Why should I have to spend my time, my money, to bring something back that should have never left the manufacturer? February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by After ONE Year in 3 Bedrooms and closets - 600 sq ft Most reviews are written shortly after installation.....I chose to wait 1 year and then give my opinion. My day 1 impression of this product was not very good...why? I had installed Pergo flooring years ago and was trying to use the same style of angling the boards to connect them together......breaking tongues......Reading the directions super carefully....this new type of tongue and groove connection is totally different .....once you get the hang of it the end result is far better in integrity and alignment without gaps and almost stops you from misaligned the product. Not only that the bevels in this product give a real wood appearance with far better scratch resistance than any engineered or solid wood flooring.....with no future maintenance requred. Having dogs won't scratch it....taking a key won't scratch it.... traffic pattern won't scratch it....just super durable, attractive and real wood appearance.....What else could you ask for January 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Flooring ever Easy to install, easy to clean and fantastic look and feel June 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy install - watch for product damage No issues with the product itself. Caution with the product packaging - does not protect the product well - had 2 cases that were mishandled during shipping and the tongue was mangled on several boards. Order more than you need and return the defective product. May 31, 2016
