Answer:
I would. They have some inexpensive ones but If your sub-floor is fairly flat, probably not. We used an underlayment because our sub-flooring is concrete and pretty rough.

Sam,
Yes. An underlayment is needed with this product. I used the Roberts Black Jack padding. The underlay went down well and was easy to use.

Yes, you do, this product does not come with an attached underlay.
I used the Pergo Soundbloc, and I've had compliments on both the cushioned feel of the floor, as well as how much warmer it feels than the old floor.

Answer:
Most definitely, and you will not be disappointed. Use at least a medium thickness pad which helps with sound proofing, moisture barrier, and a nice insulating cushion. The flooring is best as a floating floor, not attached or glued down.

This is blue and grey slate. The colors are true representations. They are dark in a medium to large application so beware it may make the room look smaller.

Answer:
I am sure even glass particles would not affect the slate finish. I have moved furniture across the floor and not had it scratch UNLESS (as happened) a sharp nail was protruding. In that case, the sharp object did penetrate the finish and leave a noticeable scratch. Other than that it is very durable.

Hi there wando,
While the product is very scratch-resistant, it's not entirely scratch proof. If the nail dust can cause a problem with scratching surfaces, then I'd recommend sweeping it up as soon as possible to eliminate the chances for scratching.

We have read mixed reviews of scratching - some have dragged appliances across with no damage, others report scratching with daily wear. What are folks finding after it has been installed for while? Thanks!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the Pergo Monson Slate. Help, I need 2 more boxes! HELP!..we love the Pergo Monson Slate. (see photos). Unfortunately 2 of the 11 boxes I ordered were damaged and while I did receive a refund on the 2 boxes I was told HD could not order. (I only ordered the 11 boxes 7 days before). I was not told however that it was discontinued. Went home started to install and HD said check their online order website for when they get it in. Went to order the 2 needed boxes and see it's discontinued. Again, only 7-10 days after my original order. Don't know it the damage was Pergo's fault or HD but there has to be 2 cases in some warehouse. If anyone has some extra Monson Slate from their own job we pay $60 per case. I am trying to have HD help us but the manager didn't seem like he grasped our situation. Very disappointed. We also have quartz counters from HD ready to come in and floor isnt' finished. Additionally the original 11 cases came in as Ligora Slate...they were returned then the 11 cases came within 7 days but with 2 damaged May 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this floor Floor is beautiful. looks and feels like slate. no grout to clean. have had about a month, no scratches and really doesn't show dirt. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pergo XP monson slate tiles We wanted a laminate tile in our basement that looked like slate but not as expensive. After researching other competitive products w/ the grey color tones, we chose Pergo XP. The tiles are made in Germany and delivered as a drop ship from the vendor. They are very durable, scratch resistant and strong. We had them installed professionally and no glue was required. Easy to clean with a damp mop. Love the look and have had many compliments on them ! June 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful, durable flooring! My wife and I purchased this flooring a few years ago as part of our downstairs powder room renovation. We loved the way it looked and it felt extremely durable. The great warranty didn't hurt our decision either. So long story short, we installed the flooring and loved it. She watches children out of our home and that room gets considerable foot traffic. After two years, there isn't a single scratch or mark on it. Still looks as good as day one. When we recently decided to redo the flooring in our kitchen and family room, we knew that Monson Slate was the obvious choice. After installation in such a large area, we love it even more. It just looks really good and completely transformed the space. I highly recommend this flooring to anyone that wants the tile/slate look without all the mess. Plus this flooring has a good texture to it which really helps with it not getting slippery when wet. October 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful This flooring is so nice and It couldn't have possibly been easier to install. I had previous experience with laminate installation, but my son did the installation for me, by himself, in one day. It was his first experience with laminate and it went really well. I love it! In 13 boxes of planks, we only found a few scratched/damaged planks. We were able to use all but one, and Home Depot let me switch it out with a good plank from a full box. There was also one, non matching plank that they also allowed us to switch out. Overall, everything went very smoothly! I love my new floor! April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by discontinued?! I can't believe this was discontinued. I really wanted to expand this flooring into my sunroom. I have no idea what other laminate will look good next to this one... May 27, 2016
