Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Product - NOT a good DIY for ost I paid a professional installer to put this in two bedrooms. I was thinking of doing it myself and I'm glad I didn't. My installer says this is one f the more difficult laminates to install. You match up the short ends and then have to tap in which makes it trickier and more susceptible to damage. My guy did a great job and the floor looks great. I'd definitely use Pergo XP again - but I'd budget my installer to do the job. February 23, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Love the look, question the installion Hopefully this review will save somebody some heartache and frustration. I just completed installing 710 Sq. Ft of this product on the main floor of my house. This was my first attempt at installing laminate flooring. As for my level of expertise; I'm not a carpenter, but I have installed floor tile, built sheds, decks and installed windows and doors without too many issues. As for tools, along with the average hand tools I also have a power miter, table and jig saws (all three are a must for this install). The rooms involved in my project were a family/TV room, small entryway, large eat-in kitchen with island, small hallway and a pantry. I had 6 doorways, 2 room transistions (1 from carpet and 1 from tile) and all the rooms joined each other so the floor flows together as one floor. The Good: I love the look of this product. It's just plain beautiful. It appears to be very durable. The Bad: After watching many youtube videos I decided to tackle this project myself. Let's face it youtube shows women and children installing this product, so certainly a fairly handy man as is myself can do it. Choosing to install this product myself for my project was by far one of the worst decision I have ever made and trust me at 52 years old I've made some questionable decisions. I now realize that the vast majority of youtube videos that show all the "do-it-your-selfers" first time installing this product were doing so in simple smaller rooms like bedrooms and straight forward kitchens. All the videos involving complicated projects like mine were all done by experienced DYI'ers or professional installers. This product does not just "snap together" and the biggest issue I have withi it is you don't notice that it didn't "snap together" or if it did so with an issue like a broken end joint until you've installed many more boards and are taking a break and looking over your work. If you have to de-install any of you work you can figure damaging at least 25% of your boards. Also, the transistional pieces such as the T-molding and Reducer are not made to be de-installed so before you "snap it" in it's track, make sure that's where you want it because if you pull it up you will likely destroy it. Conclusion: I think Pergo makes a great looking product that by all accounts will hold up for many years however specificly to this product, it is not easy to install correctly and unless you have a simple room I wouldn't recommend this product to be be a first time DYI laminate installation. Let's face it, this product is not cheap and you are going to have to live with it for years so unless you are very experienced don't be fooled as I was by youtube videos of a little old lady from Pasadena installing this on a Saturday. Along with having to level the floor and installing the 710 sq. ft of flooring 100% by myself took no less than 40 hours of labor. All that said, buy the product and pay somebody to install it. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice thick flooring we installed this ourselves with minimum problems, you need tio make sure it ckicks. i looked at laminate flooring for months and decided on this because of a dog i have, very hard to scratch and is much thicker than other laminates, although you camn get 12mm this is just perfect! brian December 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wasn't to bad to install Not all ends clicked into place, instructions not too clear for the novice do it yourself person but it looks good. August 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not easy to install I hope this flooring wears better than it was to install. We should have only needed two boxes but wound up buying a third. Many of the boards were damaged at the ends where you need to connect them and putting the ends together was horrible. They did not just fit together like it says. Now that the floor is complete it looks good, I just hope it wears well! Not worth the price! October 15, 2013
