I suggest getting two bags of bird food when you purchase the feeder.

Birds of differing sizes like this feeder (with black oil sunflower seeds). It is reasonably priced and designed well. Perches are spaced far enough away to allow Cardinals to eat comfortably (have even seen yellow bellied Woodpeckers & Blue jays land), yet smaller birds are equally happy. The square design discourages "bullies" from dominating the feeder as badly as they do on round feeders.
I had this feeder for 1 year with no problems until this Spring when squirrels started jumping directly on to the top. The hook provided stretched almost completely straight and the feeder crashed to the ground and broke (after the 2nd squirrel attack). The birds like the design so much I ordered another (stores do not stock it) and this time put a heavy duty galvanized hook to hang it.

I'm very happy with this bird feeder. Easy access for birds and holds a good amount of seed so I don't have to fill it daily. Looks great too!

2nd one i have bought so as i could have one on each side of my home. 1st one was bought 2 years ago and is still like new so the feeder is well worth the price and will last at lease a few years or longer. Just lift the the roof dump in bird feed and hang Just that easy..

Easy to fill Easy to wash. Seed stays dry in rain. Not used in a sheltered area. I have 4 of this style and want 2 more. My medium and large wild birds favorite this feeder. Small birds will use but they often prefer smaller perch type feeder I use. I have one of this design by another maker which I have had for 20 years or so. Glad to see still on market having a having time finding locally.
