Customer Reviews

3 in. W x 3.5 in. D x 19.25 in. H Upside Down Thistle Bird Feeder is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from functional but flimsy This feeder works as described - goldfinches will feed upside down, others won't. The openings are just barely large enough for the birds to get at thistle seed. It's easy enough to fill and to hang. The issue is the quality - the flimsy materials of which it's made seem more appropriate for packaging than for an actual product. If a squirrel ever gets at this feeder, he'll destroy it in a day. The piece plugging the bottom of the cylinder seems like it isn't held in well and if it falls out, so will all the seed. Will see how it holds up to the sun and the weather. At the price, I can't quite regard it as disposable. I'd rather pay more, for a more durable feeder.

I've been using these many yrs now, the finches luv them, especially compared to the other upside down feeders. The perches are exactly the right side for them to rap them feet around...And because it's plastic it doesn't' get hot by the sun's rays, as the metal does. There is another on the market, it too is 'yellow plastic, problem is the perches are too large for their feet to grab a hold. It sits 'filled w/ seed while this one goes empty fast. If you luv the little golden finches as I do, this is a good buy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works - despite very cheap construction. This feeder holds a lot of thistle seed and the gold finches do easily use it, while sparrows and house finches have so much trouble, they mostly leave it alone. However, the gold finches in my yard would not use the feeder until they (and the sparrows) had completely emptied the wire mesh tube feeders I have been using up to now. The wire hanger was unnecessarily long, but it was easy to shorten it. The overall construction is so cheap, I'd almost expect to receive it as a promotional give-a-way. I've only had mine for a week or two, so I have no idea how long it will last. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality, not worth the price This bird feeder looks like something sold at the dollar store. It's made of flimsy plastic & was difficult to assemble. Saw something comparable in our local drugstore for $3.99--this was $9.99. Very disappointed with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap but the Gold Finches love it. Just bought a new one. I had one of these last summer and it worked great and then broke. Its made cheap but worth $11. Might even last a season. Tons of Finches eat there all day long.
