Baffler Squirrel-Be-Gone Wild Bird Feeder is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from First truly squirrel-proof bird feeder that I have found I enjoy feeding the birds and squirrels but I want to limit which feeders the squirrels can get to. This is the first bird feeder that actually prevented squirrels from getting food so they gave up trying. Excellent innovation - the bottom portion is spring loaded so that when weight is applied to the posts the bottom drops, blocking the feeder holes. We hang feeders on poles, fences, or tree limbs - this feeder would work in any location. It also holds more seed than normal see my photo comparison with another feeder, both with sunflower kernels. The top cover is a nice feature but by itself is insufficient to prevent squirrels from getting to most feeder positions as they leap, twist, hang upside down, etc. to get to the seed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Squirrel proof We have always had problems with squirrelevant and bird feeders. The little pigs just keep helping themselves no matter which type we use. Our neighbor haso a feeder similar to this type so we thought we would give it a try since my wife likes to feed the birds. This feeder was excellent in keeping the squirrels from steeling the bird seed, but the drawback was that due to the small size perches, only small type birds could land. Our cardinals, tit mice, and blue Jays could not land and started going elsewhere for food. We had to add other type feeders for the other birds. Needless to say, the squirrels have returned since.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QUALITY FEEDER Several reviewers mentioned the length of the perches as being too short. Birds of all varieties in our yard do not have a problem with this. I replaced a smaller feeder that only the smaller birds would use with this one and all the birds love it. I have found over the years that sometimes it will take the birds a few weeks to begin using a new feeder so maybe this is the problem. It holds three pounds of seed and the ports are large enough for peanuts to pass through. It is well made, not flimsy. As far as the feeder being squirrel proof, I don't know yet, as they simply look up at it and move on.Maybe they have had no luck with this type of feeder before? LOL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally No Squirrels I was excited to see if this really would keep the squirrels off the bird feeder. They can get on the feeder but they can't get to the food. The design is such that when the weight of the squirrel is on the bottom of the feeder the holes get closed off from being spilled out of the feeder. When the squirrel hops off the bottom of the feeder the holes are open again for the birds. The top of the feeder is unstable for squirrels to hang onto and try and reach the seeds below. I wondered about the size of the seed tube being so long but it too is a part of the design. If the squirrel is on top trying to reach down it's too far to reach. I also like that the seed tube will hold up to 3 lbs of bird seed. This is a great bird feeder !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well, the squirrels haven't gotten into the feeder The design of this looks like it should very easily keep the squirrels at bay, and we think it probably does. Of course, the birds don't seem to enamored with it, either. We've checked to make sure the feed is actually making it into the cup (it is), yet the birds aren't using the feeder, despite it being about 3 feet away from the frequently used (by birds) bird bath. I guess this is good at keeping birds away as well as the squirrels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to the name Wow... a squirrel proof feeder that ACTUALLY lives up to the name/claim. We've tried a lot of "squirrel proof" feeders and most make it a few days and then end up in the recycle bin.Not this one, it really does work. It has a cap that "bobbles" around when you put weight on it, this causes them to lose their balance and prevents them from climbing down the tube. On the off chance they make it to the feeding holes, those also "bobble" around which does two things: 1) drops them right off the feeder, and 2) blocks off the seed holes. We did find that we had it mounted too close to the tree trunk at first which resulted in some clever squirrels jumping on to it. We fixed that by just sliding it a foot or two further down the branch / away from the trunk. It's a little clunky to refill (the cap has to be removed) but I'll put up with it if it means refilling once a week instead of once a day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stops the Squirrels & the Birds! After receiving this product, had high expectations for it's claimed "squirrel proof" designed. However, while slipping plate wire into the drilled clear tube holes, one end of the wire broke. Made a call to the Perky-Pet mnf., stated there's no parts for replacement, had to take back to HD. Instead, I installed heavy duty wire to complete the feeder so we could get it hanging and test the SBG claim. Well it works!! Several squirrels attempted to get to the feeder but were unsuccessful and eventually quit trying! On the first day we observed 1 black capped chickadee and 2 house sparrows attempting to feed. It appeared they had trouble with the wobbly spring loaded perches and never returned. After one week, we never saw any other birds approaching or attempting to feed from this unit and the level of feed never dropped. Yes, we have other regular feeders that attract many birds all day long, but unfortunately are not squirrel proof. A redesigned product that would continue to be squirrel resistant, but also attract our feathered friends, would be extremely welcome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Squirrels-Be-Baffled! My yard has a variety of birds, squirrels and other wonderful sights of nature but my old bird feeder would empty quickly when those squirrels came around. I purposely leave out nuts and fruit for these entertaining critters but it's no fun when they spill out all of the seed from a feeder onto the ground. I had heard great comments about this Squirrel-Be-Gone Bird Feeder so I thought I would give it a shot and to my relief it really works at keeping the squirrels at bay. The dome tilts and wobbles so they can't get their balance and the tube is long enough (18 inches) so they can't stretch down to the four seed ports. The weight of the squirrels force the ports to close so they can't get access to the seeds. The long tube is big enough for up to 3 pounds of seed. I hang my feeder from a beam on my patio but it can be displayed on a pole, fence or tree limb. To fill the feeder I open the lid from the top and use a funnel to pour the seeds inside. The opening is a little small for me to pour directly from the bag without spilling. This is the first feeder that seems to work at keeping the squirrels mystified and allows the wild birds to enjoy their food.
