I purchased the waterer because I had noticed how hot and thirsty the birds at my feeder sometimes appeared. After braiding a hanger for it, I hung it in my tree near the feeder. The seem to be frightened by it so far, but some of the younger birds are at least using the feeder a little bit. I live in hope that they will adjust to it's presence if they get hungry enough. I live in the desert and the birds need all the help they can to get a drink of water. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by trcylk Great addition to the bird feeders.
We've had bird feeders for quite some time, but they were for just Hummingbirds, or seed dispensers. Now with this water dispenser, more birds come in to our yard, and birds that we don't get to see very often. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I use this in my apiary. I place it about 200 feet away from my hives and fill it with sugar water. It keeps the nasty wasps, yellowjackets, and ants away from my hive but allows my bees to feed. It also discourages robbing of neighboring hives. I do wish the plastic eyelet at the top was more durable. After a year it broke.

Usually prefer glass containers but this design intriged me. The bottom screws off, wash it, fill it with water and you're good to go. Will require a bottle brush to wash inside.
Have a tree house with a shelf where we feed the little forest creatures. Put it out on a 6' high shelf to see what would happen. It works great, so much better than I had hoped. The little animals love it. The large cedar trees of the PNW drop a fair amount of debris into any open water bowl. This tray gets some debris but nothing like an open bowl. The reservior holds a good amount of water so it lasts. When the tray gets dirty just lean it to the side to remove the debris. The tray never empties of water even with the limited forrest debris. Fell and dropped several times, it survives unharmed. Squirrels, birds and even the racoons seem to like it.

I bought two of these to place at different locations in my yard but I must be doing something wrong because all the water just pours right out no matter what . One I had low and near shrubs on a small shepherds hook the other was on my clothes line at the corner of my house .
