Answer:
The yellow centers of the flowers are designed to be inserted securely. They should not be pulled up when using the feeder.

Customer Reviews

Magnolia Top Fill Hummingbird Feeder with Free Nectar is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Make sure you follow instructions!! I almost discarded it... it leaked so bad. Then I went online to watch the video, took it apart completely and followed instructions mindfully - and it works! It's the best feeder because it's SO easy to clean. I love it, thank you for a great product :-) the hummingbirds are grateful. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless - leaks like a faucet After wasting a lot of time and much nectar, I finally gave up on this feeder. It does not work right. As soon as you pour the nectar in, all of it leaks out in seconds. I even watched the video on how to fill it and followed the instructions exactly but got the same results every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Feeder Great little feeder. Easy to clean and fill. On the leaking complaints you have to tighten the two bottom halfs. Then tighten the clear container. I have had zero leaks [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks! I have the same problem as many users - this feeder leaks, no matter how carefully and tightly it is assembled. Sometimes a slow drip, sometimes a stead drip, drip, drip. Leaks around flower stems and around seam where two bottom halves screw together with no sealing gasket. Rarely, I will get it together and it won't leak, but then the birds won't use it - they will try it then move on to another feeder. I searched through many feeders at several stores looking for a bee-proof feeder before buying this one. (Sadly, I did not check online reviews first!). As to the bees, true, they cannot get to the nectar through the flower ports, but they can get plenty around the flower bases and around the seam where the bottom halves screw together. So I always have lots of bees around whenever I decide to give this feeder another try. I keep thinking I must just be doing something wrong, but now that I have read the reviews, I know it is the product, not me. Unfortunately, I bought this a year ago, so can't return it - and I don't want to give it away to the thrift store and saddle some unsuspecting person with it, so guess it is just junk to be thrown away. I agree with others that the concept is good - that's what led me to buy this feeder - but it is poorly designed and should be replaced. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perky-Pet® Magnolia Hummingbird Feeder I have bought more feeders than I can count and had problems with all of them being invaded by bees and wasps, not to mention ants. They molded easily and it took longer to clean out the little dead bodies than it did to clean out the mold. Then they leaked or dripped with no way to fix it. I bought one of these feeders and at first had a huge leaking problem until I actually read the instructions and tightened the lid correctly so it created a vacuum. Now I not only have a leakless feeder that's easy to hang, the bees and wasps aren't even interested in it. Finally the perfect feeder. I have since purchased 4 more and have thrown away all my other feeders. Thanks Perky-Pet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best feeder yet! I have a total of 7 of these feeders and think they are outstanding. Very easy to fill and clean. The Hummers around our house swarm the feeders and it is such a pleasure to sit and watch them. I have actually had one start land on the perch while I was trying to hang it up. I do agree with some of the comments though as the last two feeders that I bought leak almost every time I use them. I have tried everything to stop the leaking but with no luck so far. After all, with owing 7 of these feeders, I do know how to make them work. Even though 2 of my feeders give me fits, I still think the Magnolia Top Fill Feeder is the best on the market. Thank you Perky-Pet. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope, pick another feeder.... I have a lot of hummingbird feeders....at least a dozen, all over the yard. I've been eyeing this top fill feeder for some time, but the reviews made me hesitate. This week I broke down and bought one. I've filled and refilled, watched the video, followed the steps, and the thing just leaks like crazy.....yesterday I thought I'd finally gotten it right, hung it and watched, no drips. 1/2 hour later, no drips. This morning, the entire thing had emptied onto the patio. I'm sick of being sticky, sick of cleaning it up, it's just not worth the bother. I don't even want to give it away and dump it on someone else. I to the trash it goes, and I'm heading out tomorrow to find a new feeder.....very sad, this was a great idea, poorly executed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept, but ... After reading instructions, watching the video, and watching all the nectar come out of the flowers in a steady stream until completely empty, we gave up and returned it. ATTENTION DESIGNERS: those flowers can't be securely enough locked into the base to avoid breaking the vacuum! Please re-design because top-loading is a great concept!
