Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Bird Waterer This bird waterer is a nice design that looks nice with its light blue color 32 Oz mason jar. The base width and overall height are nearly the same as similar shaped bird feeders. I have not seen any birds at this bird waterer so far after having this waterer hanging for nearly a week. Some birds prefer not to be seen and some of my neighbors also have bird baths that birds sometimes utilize. Will continue experimenting with hanging this bird waterer in different locations to find a location that birds prefer the best. The base of this bird waterer along with an adapter that the mason jar screws into are made of steel and all metal surfaces appear to be coated with a hard painted finish. The base platform is secured well to the adapter that the mason jar screws onto with 3 solid rivets. There are no sharp sheet metal edges because all of the sheet metal edges are rolled over as part of the design. This bird waterer feels sturdy when removing and reattaching the mason jar for cleaning and refilling and is very easy to clean and refill. The base platform is approximately 1" deep and fills up less than 1/2 way with water. The hanging clip on the mason jar works well to hang and keep this waterer level using an 'S' shaped hook or other suitable hanger which is not included with the waterer. Was concerned about an all steel base and steel adapter being constantly exposed to water, but so far the metal surfaces appear to be well protected and unaffected. June 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super simple & pretty I love the pretty light blue color of this glass Mason Jar bird waterer. After you add water it just glows. It's super simple to use. The base unscrews, you fill up the mason jar with water, rescrew the base back on like a cap, & flip it over. The tiny holes let out just enough water to fit in the lip of the metal base, allowing the majority of the water to stay in the jar until the base empties some & more water is needed. It looks lovely in my front yard. I've already received a few compliments on it from my neighbors. May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just perfect for my baby chicks This is just perfect for my baby chicks (chicken and guinea). Not a big enough water tray for them to drown in yet enough water in reserve to keep them hydrated. My old one works on a small mouth quart jar, but it is getting old and rusty. See pic. This style isn't sold at most of the chicken equipment sites, and it is nice to be able to find a new one that is like the old one (not to big water tray). May 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean water for the birds I love this mason jar bird waterer. What a great idea for clean, sterile water for the birds. I am always concerned about the two bird baths I have in my yard, as the birds use them for drinking water also. So, I try to keep them as clean as possible, but with so much activity in them daily, it is hard. This waterer is very well made and works really well, and the birds took to it really fast. The only thing I didn't like about it was the design of the hook to hang it. It wasn't wide enough to hang on most bird feeder posts and tilting it to try to hook it spills the water out. I finally got another hook and hooked it onto that. It's a great compliment to my bird feeder station. April 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Great and Helps WIldlife This is an attractive waterer. It is pretty with an old fashion looking jar top and a sturdy heavy metal base. It can be hung or set on a table. Honestly I didn't get it for the birds, although they are welcome to use it, I wanted it to be a waterer for the bees. I put a few pebbles in the water section so they wouldn't drown and set it out where they can help themselves. Bees are important allies in the garden and making them a water station is just a nice thank you for all they do. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sharpe Buy This one of the most interesting buys I have made in a long time. It is a real blue glass Mason jar that comes complete with waterer made of steel and hanger so you can hang it up and hopefully the birds will find it. We used an old hanging basket rack to hang it on. I was not sure where to put it south, north or east or west. I put it on the south side and may have to move it. Instructions says to change the water every two weeks. Wife loves it. March 29, 2016

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Concerned about zinc in galvanized base I have an issue with birds pecking at some of the fruit in my garden. I was going to try the advice that if you provide water for the birds they won't go after the fruit, at least as much, since they're mainly going after the fruit for the moisture. This bird water looks nice and sturdy. You can't really hang it from something like a shepherd's hook or other similar hook because that mounting bar doesn't have enough room. You'd need to purchase an additional hook to put it on a hook which I don't like. I didn't realize the base was galvanized as other products from this manufacturer are powder coated. The zinc in galvanized metal leaches out in water and is toxic to birds. While other galvanized waterers are used for larger birds like chickens and other animals, this has a high surface area to volume of water actually in the lower pan. I thought the base looked like it might be powder coated over the galvanized metal. I called the manufacturer to check and was informed it is not. They also told me to replace he water every 2 days if I have concerns about the zinc. Too much hassle. Don't plan on using it. May 29, 2016
