Weather guard

I'm most interested in using this as a rain/weather guard for a hanging feeder. Anyone have feedback on how well this would work for that purpose?
Asked by: JP
Would work for weather as long as the top of the feeder is closed. Not squirrel proof however. Squirrels can eat thru the PLASTIC hook.

The squirrels ate thru the hook which caused the product to fall to the ground and shatter (the part around the hook). I would definitely not purchase again and would appreciate my money back. No stars are earned.

When inserting the screws into the plastic piece that holds the baffle in place I quickly discovered that the holes were too small and the screws would NOT go in. I spent 30 minutes trying. I then tried inserting them with my electric screwdriver to no avail. Then I attempted to use a threaded drill bit to make the holes larger and and make the screws insert. Did not even make a dent in the hard plastic and it finally cracked in one area. Probably would have worked if the holes had been properly threaded. Finally, I put filament through the hole, rigged it to the feeder just to attempt something to keep the squirrels off. Two hours later filament had broken and the squirrels were happily eating. I threw it away.

It is easy to assemble and use on the pole I have my bird feeder on. It stops the squirrels from even trying to get to your bird food. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because due to the way the baffler is constructed, strong winds move it up and down, which can cause it to crack. I have to replace mine every 2 years or so as they will crack due to high winds.

Although our set-up was different and not able to pivit as proper installation required, it still looks good. However, the squirrel was smarter than the baffler! She is using it as a step stool to access the food. The top one is working great to keep rain off/out of the food. Here is our picture of the squirrel bafflers. Hope it gives you a laugh!

The baffle is well constructed but others have said the hub is very poorly constructed, the holes are too small for the screws. Screw one cracked the hub. Was able to recover by drilling out the remaining 2 holes prior to screwing in the screws.

I have written a review on this product about how to change these squirrel-chewable plastic hooks to metal, and after this modification I completely defeat the squirrels in my yard that completely destroyed my previous Perky-Pet "Squirrel-Be-Gone" bird feeder. Here is my setup: 1) hang the modified baffle ~2 feet below a tree branch 2) at least 5 feet below hangs my new Homestead Stop-A-Squirrel bird feeder 3) the bird feeder is ~6 feet above the ground Now the squirrels in my yard completely give up trying to land on the bird feeder - the birds are happy and I'm happy. Hope this helps you defeat the squirrels in your Yard
