Bought two for our feeders and figured that by mounting them directly on the poles that the occasion for damage would be minimized. Not So!!! Wind got gusty last night and both baffler's cracked badly banging around. Guess the hard plastic is too brittle to take anything but a gentle breeze. Waste of my money and I guess I was wrong in thinking it would work for me.

This has defeated our squirrels to date and it's been about a year. They've tried gnawing through it to get to the feeder but to no avail. It also helps to protect the seed from rain. I'm very pleased with this purchase - more than exceeded my expectations.

Pros: this paid for itself in the first two weeks by keeping the squirrels from eating the bird seed. It is also very entertaining to watch them try to get around it.
Con: The squirrels chew on the plastic hook and destroy it. I replaced it with a 1/4 inch turn buckle from the hardware department still cheaper than the metal baffle available,.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Axe Poor exceuse for a baffle
This is a terrible product. The set screws are near impossible to put in. I had to use a vise-grip to screw them in. The collar itself is made of a brittle plastc that cracks easily in cold weather. In addition even though the baffle is flexible, I accidentally dropped it and it shattered.
On the plus side, it does keep the squirrels off the feeder - if you can get it installed..

After a few weeks, our baffler is broken. It was attached to the pole securing the feeder. Because it has a 20 pound rating, we must have 21 pound squirrels at our house.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dennis Squirrel Baffler collar suggested repair
As said by others the concentric collar that locates the baffle is the part that is not made well and is very brittle and it will easily crack during installation and or normal use. I did however fix this part by taking a piece of 1" PVC pipe that I cut to about 3- 4 inches long and then used PVC glue to the inside hole. I also drilled new holes for he screws in the end of this PVC pipe.
I am surprised that this company who makes them has not come up with a new design

I have found the best squirrel stopper is a galvanized metal trash can lid (50 gallon) over the top with a hook under it. With a chain on the top and a light fixture ring and a 10/24 bolt thew the lid and a ring under the lid. They cannot keep their footing on top and slide off it.

Mounted this on a 6 foot 1/2in dia shepards hook. My bird feeder is constantly under attack from a family of 4 squirrels. Mounted easily after I opened the hook part a bit. For the past week it has been assualted from the top and bottom. The guards ability to tip has proved invaluable and entertaining when a squirrel does a back flip. All attempts have been unsuccessful. Excellent product at a good price.
