Answer:
Birds can be very cautious towards new items in their environment and may take a few days or weeks to warm to a new feeder. To encourage them to try the feeder, we recommend removing established feeders temporarily and placing a small pie pan of seed below the feeder. The shiny pan will attract the birds to the area and will fly up to the feeder for more seed.

We already have a pole with our current feeder and need to make sure the mount will work with our pole. Do you know the measurement of the hole?

Thank you!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 85 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by average keeps squirrels out and haven't seen 1 bird in it since purchased May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cute and does the job! It felt kinda cheap, but the other options weren't great either. It's turned out to be very nice! The birds can get to the food but the squirrels can't. :) I would recommend this product. February 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bird Feeder Large capacity; great--I don't need to fill it every day. Doesn't fit level on the pole--a pole that I already had. There should be an universal adapter option January 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Smart Squirrel feeder I have the metal version of this, only metal is a defense against squirrels. Holes a ton of seed, less filling! ... except smart squirrels learn to hold onto sides, so perch doesn't close up seed feed holes - THEN they will try to empty this feeder. Tried a Home Depot hanging clear dome - defeated sqirrels fro awhile but eventually squirrels defeated this combination. A larger dome can be found on line (~$55) but I am starting over with something not so wide and a sturdy hang dome that is at least 3" larger. July 12, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Better than most of its type Very large capacity platform style feeder with anti-squirrel feature. On the plus side it also discourages large birds and keeps them from raking out food. Only drawback is feeds only on one side. March 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by All metal feeder The feeder is all metal with no wire connection to wear out or break. Only negative is it did not take the squirrels very long to figure out how to defeat the the bar from closing. Otherwise, very attractive and solid unit that should last for years August 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best on the Market I give this squirrel-proof bird feeder a five star rating because its the best there is on the market, NOT because it is 100% squirrel proof! My squirrels found the Achilles Heel of the red bird feeder. My red feeder is suspended on a hook so the squirrels gain access by climbing the hook post. On the first day I found it suspended on its side still on the hook, everything intact. The second day I found the cover on the ground, squirrels feasting inside the feeder. They unlocked the weather vane allowing the squirrels to pop the cover off. The third day, the same thing again. I replaced the red bird feeder cover/weather vane with the green bird feeder/chimney cover, a more secure locking device. This should solve the problem. The squirrels and I had a war of wits for a while. Thanks Perky-Pet June 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't be happier!! Haven't seen a squirrel since I set it up!! They usually fee in the ear;y am but no evidence yet! June 2, 2015
