Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Squirrel be gone but not the chipmunks So far the squirrels haven't gotten into the bird feeder but the springs are a little to stiff to keep the chipmunks out. I also have to revise my pole because the deer are also eating the bird food. August 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product We were looking for a larger sized, squirrel proof bird feeder to enhance our garden. We saw this one and knew we would love it. Immediately after receiving it, we hung it, 10 mins later we had beautiful bluejays (photo attached) and other smaller birds eating the bird seed. We have had a few squirrels around in the past and as we watch the action going on during feeding times during the day, the squirrels do not even attempt to jump on the feeder. However, if they did, the whole feeder lowers to prevent the squirrels feeding on the seeds. Excellent product. Love it. Holds quite a bit of seed and has 3 separate chambers so if you want to use different seed in each chamber, for different types of birds, this would be the perfect bird feeder. We are extremely happy and are thinking of ordering another one. Would definitely recommend this bird feeder to anyone. August 6, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by waste of money! I tried 3 of these and they all would un-screw and come apart. Then it was near impossible to get back together. When I did get it together the squirrels would ruin it by getting the springs to come off and lose parts. Then you can't get replacement parts from perky-pet. I will no longer buy a perky-pet product because they do not stand behind what they make. JUNK as my husband would say. October 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Feeder If Set Up Properly The feeder is well made, and looks really nice! The birds LOVE this thing. We initially had problems setting it up though; couldn't find or pick out the best standing hanger for it; due to all the weight from the bird seed on the feeder, we had to pick out a sturdier stand to support it. The bird feeder does include a prop-stand to support the feeder on the ground while you fill it up with seed. Quite handy. A squirrel couldn't get its paws around the stand well enough to even get to the bird feeder, so we think we are safe for now! But we are fascinated with all the birds that have come to see it and eat from it! The 3 different separated tubes for the different types of seeds is a wonderful idea, but we filled all three with the types of seeds most birds would eat anyways. Overall, the feeder is extremely easy to put up as long as you have a sturdy hanger for it; don't go out and get one of the cheap hangers unless you're hanging it from a tree; prepare yourself for a true investment. You will thank yourself later for it! July 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful I used a 4 x4 post that is used for hanging baskets to fit this feeder. I simply drilled and pushed an old shortened broom handle through it.Not that it requires a 4 x4 post of course but bear in mind that once full of seed, this feeder is heavy, and so some thought should be `where am I going to hang it and on what?` It looks really nice with neighbors inquiring as to where we bought it. Two really pesky squirrels have dominated our smaller feeder all summer, despite our efforts to thwart them. They just to seem to sit at a distance and watch me construct yet another obstacle around the stand, and then go about figuring a way around it, which is by the end of the day. Far too clever critters. Since we put this feeder up on the post, we have watched both ornery pests try their hardest to get to the seed and fail every time. Half expecting them to show up the following day with a chain saw. After a weeks failed attempts, they have now stopped coming around. The birds seem to have taken to this new feeder now that they have figured out that our old one is not there anymore. Easy to fill and it does really look nice. August 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Certainly NOT Squirrel Proof The squirrels are smarter than this feeder. The guards that are to slide down when the squirrel gets on the feeder, do slide down but the decorative leaves which are to block the feeding ports don't completely cover the ports, therefore the squirrels reach in to the sides of the guards and just pull the food out. Additionally, the squirrels, break the plastic guards which are intended to allow only a small amount of bird seed out at a time. This allows the seed to freely pour out on the ground. July 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Triple tube bird feeder Looks great and the birds have a choice of three different types of food. My set up will allow squirrels to get at the food. They really have to work at it to get at the food though. August 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Squirrel proof by any means! Filled the feeder and hung it from a wood support on a building. Squirrel immediately found an jumped about 4 feet onto the feeder. The feeder closed the ports on the feeder. Squirrel jumped 8 ft to the ground and climbed back up to the garage roof, jumped over to the top of the feeder and now hangs over the side upside down and gets all the seed it wants. I will place a circular sheet metal 16" in diameter over the top of the existing metal top. A large plastic dome would suffice except I have tried them an the squirrels will chew them to pieces. Very unhappy with this feeder. March 25, 2013
