I like this feeder...on my third one as the squirrels eventually destroy them :) Gotta love those little guys. But I do like them as they are pretty and the little birds just cover them up some times. The thing I don't like are the little springs, as they wear out and pop and the whole thing is useless. I buy another one and save the parts so I can do repairs hehe.

This Bird feeder does not live up to the claim of being squirrel proof the squirrels chase away the birds and feeds all day on the bird seed sitting on the top and hanging off the top of the bird feeder and holds on the feeder hugging the entire feeder

I've gone thru several squirrel proof feeders and nothing works as good as this feeder. With all my previous feeders I was basically feeding the squirrels more than the birds. Now I watch the squirrels jump on the feeder and close the openings with the spring loaded guard. After a minute of watching the squirrel get frustrated they leave. I do have an 18" metal cone shaped dome that hangs over the top of the feeder which also is very good at eliminating the squirrels! They jump and slide over the cone and fall to the ground or hang on the feeder and give up...kinda funny to watch!
Overall, I don't think you will find a feeder this good for the price.

Squirrels have their way with this feeder.
I like them but they clog up in the bad weather and after a year they're never the same. I'm not a Guy who gets his hands dirty I'm surely not gonna sit there and unclog this item , I buy new instead. And I bought two new ones this year and one the bottom fell out ,it seems they cheapened the quality in production now. But it's still better than the rest including the houses because of squirrel issues. I must feed my cardinals and woodpeckers and the rest of my singing crew.
If they would keep the squirrels out for good and go back to the better metal previously produced in this item I would rate the cage a 5star!

Bird feeder works in theory...the weight of the squirrel sitting on the perch causes the metal cage to drop an inch or so and the leaves cover the openings in the feeder and the bird seed is protected. Unfortunately, the plastic inner tube that holds the seed is so flimsy, the squirrel(s) chewed right through it and helped themselves to the seed.

We tried this feeder for several days and didnt see many birds eating. I noticed that the perch rungs are not positioned for the birds to eat in a normal position. I exchanged it for a perky pet copper one with a perch rung. Hopefully it will work better.

Best bird feeder I've owned so far. Had a ball watching the squirrels going nuts trying to get at the bird seed. They would put their front paws on it (like they did the other feeders) and it would instantly close. Birds could land on the u shaped pegs and it would stay open. It has an adjusting spring to adjust how much weight it will hold before it closes. I have it on set on minimum. The only drawback is the u shaped pegs appear to small for my larger birds ie cardinal, blue jay to land on. Smaller birds have no problem unless the bigger birds like eating off the ground now.
