Answer:
You put the flags out as a reminder and visual learning tool for the dogs. They soon learn where the boundary is. They are above ground.

Answer:
the flags are installed by you when you find the boundary during installation. after your pet learns the boundary, you can remove the flags. I keep them handy though, because if there is something I don't want my dog to get near, I just put the flags there and he won't go near it, lol.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in PetSafe's Wireless Pet Containment System.
The boundary flags are used when training the dog to learn the boundary lines of where the containment area is. They are removed once the dog is trained.

Place the transmitter near an outlet along a window or outside wall of the house or building that you want to be the 'center' of the area the dog can roam. Turn it and the collar 'on' and go outside. Walk around to find the boundaries as the collar will beep when you've reached the distance the dog can roam. If it doesn't beep soon enough for the area you want limited; either turn down the dial on the transmitter or relocate the transmitter away from the boundary you want to establish as in moving the 'center' of the area the dog can roam.
Regarding your circular question; yes, it is circular except for areas obstructed by metal buildings or objects like a metal trailer. Walking around holding your collar will alert you to those situations.

Answer:
Hanging it on a wall, or putting it up on a shelf worked best for us. the containment area is somewhat circular, but can be affected by obstacles, so it's not perfectly round. you have to just find the boundaries as instructed in the manual.

Answer:
yes it is a large circle 1/2 acre from side to side
when walking with the collar it will beep when coming to the end of the line
so you can tell where the line is going to be.. this way you can see where you
want the transmitter

Answer:
Hi Lori,
The transmitter is wireless so it can be placed anywhere.
Try to locate it so there are no obstructions blocking the signal.
The signal travels like the waves in a pond. With a 1/2 acre
radius.
You my buy additional transmitters to cover a larger area.

Hi Speedy, we do not have a containment and remote trainer combo system. These are separate devices as they utilize very different types of technology.

My backyard slopes up. If I have the transmitter on the flat surface of my yard will the signal work going up the slope? I already have a pool fence that goes up the slope but my boxer has dug under the fence. I wish to have the boundy of the dog fence to be the same as the pool fence.

Answer:
Hi Fiore, if the slopes are more than 3-4 feet in your yard it may be problematic. The signal goes out in somewhat of a "bubble" but works best on mostly flat terrain. An In-Ground fence may better suit your needs if this is the case.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not work for us We tried to set this up twice and even called the company when it would not work! We live in a ranch and they told us that it was not working properly due to the garage (Cars/tools) Made no sense but we had to return it! Other people we know, has it, and it works great!!!! May 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not suited for our back yard Cannot be squared off , just a circular deterrent. If you have a square or rectangular plot of land this product is of limited use. May 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a Quality Product The collar receiver would beep at random times, even when it was within a couple feet of the transmitter. This really confused the dog. Very poor quality construction for such an expensive item. Can not recommend this product. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great It works great thx this works it gives the dog a big circle to run April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheaper than putting up a fence around our 2 acres! Really simple to 'install'. Our Australian Shepherd didn't take long to recognize the boundaries either. He loves roaming the 1/2 acre around the house and now comes in the front door or the back, just wherever he happens to take the notion to come in. No more 130ft linear running line with a 10ft lead. He's so much happier and stays outside a lot more now too. March 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product, this wireless fence is wonderful and easy to use. just set up perimeters and walk dog as directions state and works great. I had a fence jumper and a digger have used this for about 2 months and I love it. but the dogs enjoy it more as they get more outside time, we have a doggie door and they come and go outside as wanted. great product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pet safe This will be our 2nd one, the first one we used 12 years and after our dog was gone we gave it away thinking we would never need another. Now we are 1 month into our new puppy phase and are ready to buy another. Pet safe is the best thing on the market, easy to train and set up. It seemed like she got the hang of it within the first week. Fingers crossed our new addition is just as smart! February 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome product Thank goodness there is a pet containment product that doesn't involve underground wires! I didn't even know this existed until my brother told me. It was easy to setup and the instructions gave detailed information on how to train your pet. I followed them and within a week my pet will not go past the flags! I ordiginally had the collar set to 2 but my dog gets in a frenzy when he sees a biker going by. So I set it to 4 and that did the trick; one zap and he stays within his boundaries. Now he can sit on the front porch without a leash. Another good point on wireless is that you can take it with you! If you have a vacation home, this is perfect! This product made my life a LOT easier!! December 15, 2015
