What is the difference between this pet safe 10 acre and the stubborn dog 10 acre?

Asked by: Lacie
The amount of shock.

I need to create an area where my dog can cross the fence without being affected

I want to confine my dog to the back yard (about 1/2 acre). Do I have to use the double loop system or is there another way that I can leave an area near my back door for the dog to cross safely?
Asked by: Rikity
Simply twist the wire to avoid shocking in that area, but that will take a double loop of wire.

Dog stays in yard, girl is happy, and neighbors are thrilled. 1 star deduction because initial packaging is not clear that a double loop (hence twice the wire) is necessary unless you can to totally encircle the property; instructions inside box clarify. Read the instructions before purchasing to ensure that you have enough wire and understand how to install properly.

Just layout the wire, make sure of no kinks etc. Hook it to the main unit as a completed loop. If not completed a Light blinks. Small Flags are set to the limit until the collar beeps. Set the collar for little Rover and walk him to the flags. Believe me, One shock usually does it. This is the Industry Standard for In-ground Fences and the best way to keep your pet safe.

The controls are too sensitive to interference from other electrical devices. Restrictions for locating the control panel and surge protector make putting it in a heated basement unpractical since furnace, water heater, dryer, etc. interfere with functions . We have wire in the ground but have not been able to get it to operate as yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to install with a sod shovel and paint stick This product is so simple to install that just about anyone could do it. We used the edger attachment on our yard trimmer, but a sod shovel to break the grass would've been enough. I ran the edger across about 100' at a time, and pushed the wire about 1-2" under the grass with a paint stick, all around our yard, about 800 feet. Installing the controller is as simple as putting it on the wall next to an outlet, plugging in the wires to speaker-jack type connectors, and plugging it in. Our 7 month old sato was trained to move away from the flags within a day. 3 weeks into having the system and she hasn't crossed it in 2.5 weeks. We removed the flags yesterday and she is aware of her physical boundary. Highly reccommend this product to anyone looking to save the $700-800 for other brand's installation fees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased! We have a 120 lb pit bull that is very active. We used this system with an existing fence in our back yard. He had a very bad digging problem and would always get out of the yard. We have had this product for three months now and he has not tried to dig out once. We did training for a few days as suggested by the manufacturer and it worked great. I believe he was only “corrected” two times before he got it. This product has even been through multiple rain storms and freezing and it has not malfunctioned once. I especially liked that you can set this system up many different ways, leave areas where there is no correction so our dog could get back into the house as well as adjust the correction zone as he approaches the wire. I am very pleased with this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great/Slightly Misleading The important aspects of systems like this one are to train your dog to learn that the sound is a warning. If you just let them loose then they will run right through the barrier and your money will have been wasted. However, with the right training the dog will back away from the barrier as soon as they hear the beep no matter how hyper or stubborn. The system works great if the dog is trained! The only misleading part is the title it is sold under to make you think that once you buy the system that you will have ten acres of wiring. WRONG! The description of the system if you read specifies that the receiver will reach up to 10 acres, but does not come with enough wire to do that much acreage. However, wire is the inexpensive part of the entire system because you are paying up front for the collar and receiver. You can expand the system for very little investment up to ten acres. Hope this helps!
