We got this dog door and were COMPLETELY disppointed! My dogs are two 70+ dogs that are very active. Within two weeks they had broken the door off it's hinges. If it were easily fixable, we would have jut put it back on. However, two of us tried to do it together and couldn't get the pegs lined up. It was impossible. We returned it thinking it was defective, ordered another one, and the next one did the SAME thing. I would not recommend this to large pet owners that are active and are not shy about jumping through their dog doors. They run through them and the swinging actually causes it to unhinge.

Door was easy to install and operate. The range setting is a bit iffy however, it was easy to train my dog to wait for the click before trying to use the door. This has been an excellent tool to managing care for my dog.

was excited when we got this door as we would finally not have to worry about our dogs "not making it out" fast enough. we read the instructions and tested as it said to, but found the distance lacking (2ft vs 3ft), but felt it was still viable. Cut a huge whole in our Steel Door and put the unit in, which went quite painlessly. That is where the fun stopped however. all of a sudden, the door would not "see" the Smart Tags. We performed recalibtration, as outlined in the instructions, but even with the dial turned to maximum, the door would only respond if the tag was directly in front of the LEDs (literally within 1-2 inches), with a 1 inch wide window. Our dogs necks and the collars made it impossible to get the tag in the "sweet spot" and they would end up sitting in front of the door whining to get out. While we waited for Pet safe to return our calls and e-mails, we left the door "unlocked", so the dogs could use it and within 5 days the door was knocked off the holding pin and jammed in the enclosure, with them stuck outside in a storm. we fixed the door, only to have it happen a few more times. Due to the size of the needed hole, we have had to now buy a new door and replace this electronic door with a tried and true manual dual Flap design. I doubt we will try buying this type again. Also we removed the electronic door from our door and the door opens and closes again, as it should, in the same spot where we wanted it installed, so I guess the steel door is affecting the radio transmitter/receiver somehow. PetSafe did respond back that we could return the door (leaving a big hole with sharp metal edges) so they could ship us a new one, but even when asked, did not offer to ship a replacement out first.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Scout Great solution for pet entry and exit
This pet door lets your pet control when the door locks and unlocks. It took our dog Scout about a week to learn the sound of the door...to know when the door was unlocked. The sound is a 'bang', so it lets my wife and I know when Scout is in or out too. We got the door to keep our cat in and still have free exit and entry for Scout. It has worked great ! We've had it two-three months.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Leigh Works great for cats and dogs
This door is exactly what I was looking for in terms of size and convenience. It is big enough for dogs, but my cat uses it too. The only problem I have is that the transmitter is huge! I mean, it would probably be too big for a smaller dog...and it is certainly to big for my cat. I wonder if they make a smaller size one, but for now I just turn it to open when I want the cat to be able to go out and then automatic when it is time for him to come inside for the night.
