Are there flaps on both sides of the door?
Asked by: nylorij
The Freedom Aluminum Pet Door features one flap on the inside frame. This flap-holder can support two flaps for increased protection against wind and debris by purchasing an extra flap. Feel free to call us at 1-800-732-2677 for more information!

How does this door lock closed; a cover type that you snap over the opening or a piece that slides into place to keep the flap closed?

Asked by: KmmK
It comes with a plastic panel that slides down into the frame and locks using a spring loaded pin that's located on the interior side of the panel.

What about installing through an exterior wall that is stucco? Anything different about the install? Will a jigsaw work, or something else needed to cut through the exterior wall?
Asked by: Greg
Hello, Greg. Stucco is a harder material and may require special tools. You may want to consult an expert at your local store to ensure you get the right tools for your situation.

What are the dimensions of the hole in the door?

I have an existing doggy door, pet safe brand. My flap is just worn out. I tried to get a replacement flap and the replacement flap # 4-0111-11 fits, but won't stay secure in the top of my old doggy door. It's old, so, I'd like to buy a replacement doggy door, but don't want to cut a new opening in my door.
Asked by: Barbara

8.25 in. x 12.25 in. Medium Freedom Aluminum Pet Door is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from One step forward, five steps back I was very excited to see that the flap can now be changed without having to remove the frame. However, the new style flap is flimsy, blows open with the breeze and the magnetic closure system is waaaay down the scale on quality - these flaps used to SNAP closed and stay closed - I am now trying to see if I can invent some way to attach magnetic tape to get a better seal. I love doggy doors and have used them for about 15 years - this is the first one I have been disappointed in. Sure wish they'd put quality back in the flap!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Best quality Pet Door. If I, a 66 yr. old woman can install one of these in an insulated garage door with the EASY to understand instructions, anyone can install one. They are tough and rugged. I've had our first one for over 4 yrs now. And it is as good as the day it was new. We are buying another home, so off course this is my pet door of choice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Alright - I Guess?! I think that anyone giving a review of this dog door as "easy to install" must be putting them on doors very different from mine (and from what I can see to be the same as all my neighbors). I'm referring to the wood-inside alumium-outside insulation-in-the-middle type, and although I found this product difficult to install I would probably say that ANY dog door would have been just as onerous because of the type of door we were attempting to cut through. So thank heavens for my friend down the street who came to the rescue - Andy happens to be a general contractor with an arsenal of tools - cause there's no WAY I would have been able to do this myself. Oh yeah - the one thing I found way off was measuring our dog's shoulder to line up with the template -- following the instructions would have resulted in a way too low installation so I had to eyeball it (Casey is a 14-pound Jack Russell and we used the medium door). As for our dog training herself on it -- we're 3 days in and she's still not using it without a whole lot of coaxing and holding it open for her (the magnetic snap back is making her shy away from it), but overall it's a good product and I'm sure that come the warm weather days when we're outside she'll want to be with us and force herself to figure it out. I'll try to upload a photo showing you the type of door we used this on, and I bid you all good luck out there with yours!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy. Works perfectly! This doggy door is perfect. The curtain snaps back to closed and seals the opening well after my little buddy uses it. The installation was easy, as I'm a DIY guy and had the tools to do the job.
