Hi there, this could work well for your situation. While the actual measured distance of correction zone can vary, there is a dial on the transmitter so that you can turn the range up and down. Depending on the length of wire you can usually get anywhere from 5-10 feet of signal on the max setting. 20% of this zone is the warning zone where the pup gets a warning beep and vibration before the static. Answer:
It depends on where you install the device. If you are wanting a dog to stay away from the actual fence than you just need to install this product away from the fence.

No. According to the instructions, if you lay the return portion of the wire too close to the outgoing portion, the signal will cancel itself out. I was fortunate to have a six foot fence and ran the outgoing portion in a trench and the return portion along the top of the fence. I ensured that at no point did the wire get any closer than five feet. At the point furthest from the transmitter, I had to run the wire across the driveway twice to maintain the five foot distance. One portion of the wire ran where I wanted the protection to end and the second portion was five feet further out to maintain the distance. At no point did I allow the wire to get closer than five feet from any other portion except where the wire reentered the garage and no protection was required. Good Luck. Read Less

Thank you for your question! The signal could cancel itself out if run back on itself in the same trench. To prevent this from occurring, we recommend to run a separate trench about 5-10 feet away from the original trench.

Answer:
Yes you could install the wire at both locations and take the transmitter where you will be needing it. Then just unplug the transmitter and remove the boundry wire and take the transmitter with you.. The boundry wire is very easy to remove from the transmitter as they are spring loaded. Push the button down, insert the wire in the hole let go & the spring will grip the wire securely

HI booboo, you can most certainly set up wire at two locations and move the transmitter back and forth as needed.

Hi Kristin, this transmitter works with 14-20 gauge solid or stranded copper insulated wire. It will not work properly with any other type of wire.

Answer:
It should. If it worked with another brand it should work with this. I have set up 3 of these & have used all brands of wire with other brands of transmitters. Just check the boundary with the test light before using it with your pets.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by stubborn dog invisable fence they tell you that it only takes a half hr to install....that is so not true!...we worked on it for two days...ended up not being able to twist wire to make a way for my dog to exit the house an into the yard...had no current when we put the twist in...not on any of the wire!...I wasted $200.00 as far as I'm concerned...the collar is flimsy and does not fit properly...it's a total disaster ...we enclosed the backyard only...we called the costomer service number twice...and they didn't help a bit! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Product I own a 1 year old Pitbull. She weights almost 65 lbs. I had purchased the system with the regular collar. That worked for a while then she got used to the shock. So I purchased the stubborn dog collar. It works like a charm. She has learned the boundries and can be running full speed and when she gets to the boundry line she STOP. THere has been times that I forget to put the collar on her when she goes out to play and she still doesn't go past the boundries. I would recommend this product to anyone. May 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Dog Fence The Stubborn Dog Fence works perfectly. The only problem was with the supplied wire. The wire was not properly wrapped around the core and it became a twisted mess. I was only able to get about 75 feet of usable wire off of the roll and threw the rest out. I needed to buy additional wire to complete the job. Otherwise, the Stubborn Dog Fence works perfectly and I am very glad I purchased it. December 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Invisible Dog Fence Bought this in lieu of installing a fence around the back yard. Easy to install and the 500' of cable allowed me to go all the way around the house including part of the front yard for the dog to roam. Have to do more training as she got zapped a couple times and is now afraid to go out alone. That's my fault, not the fence. November 3, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stubborn Dog Fence Kit I fenced well over five acres. 3500 feet of wire. The collar is defective however. When I tighten the screws to the battery compartment, which will keep it water proof, the light goes on and will not go off. I loosened the screws and the light goes out. I have since lost one of the screws. I called Home Depot. They said I would receive an email from them in 3 to 5 days telling me what to do. Still have not heard from them. Their service is horrible. In the mean time I have a dog that needs to go out and not get run over like our last dog. So I used the defective color which works with the loose screws. I followed the training. The second day, I turned on the shock on low. He got shocked once and has not gone near the flags since. Today it is raining. I can't let him out with the screws loose as the water will get into the collar and then, who knows what will happen?! August 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stopped our pit bull Was easy to staple to an "L" shaped wood fence where Sarge loved teasing the neighbors dog. After installation he was shocked twice and it sent him bad to the patio where he jumped in his owners lap. Since the 2nd zap, he now just looks in that direction, and as if he can talk "heck no" and walks back to the house. It also has worked with him barking, just as if he wants his collar and walk towards it, he cowards and keeps quiet. Yes buy this product but be sure to read all instructions first. July 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! We purchased this fence for a puppy that would not stay in his upright fence. He would climb the fence and get out daily. It took an afternoon to bury the wire but wasn't that hard with the tractor doing the digging. It only took one time on the lowest setting for him to learn the boundary . We now don't even have him wear the collar. He does great with out it! He now has free run of about an acre and loves it! Well worth the money and now he is a very happy puppy! July 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Stubborn Dog Fence Kit works great. We incompassed approximately 6.5 Acres and the range of up to 10 ft.(from the perimeter wire) was available; but, we set it at about 1 to 2 ft. the collar has 5 settings and we have only had to put it on the first (warning only, that is a tick, tick, tick... and a buz). Our dog has great respect for the area of the wire (underground in most places) with the white flags. As a matter of fact, the white flags work where there is no "radio wire!" So far it is a success. He was initially introduced to the boundary with level 3 on the shock collar. May 12, 2011
