Customer Questions & Answers

What flow rate should I expect thru the tub spout?

I haven't purchased this product yet. My current (inexpensive) tub/shower faucet set was installed a couple of years ago. Flow rate to the tub is terrible. I recently measured it with a bucket and stopwatch to be about 2.5 gpm, which is about what I would expect thru a restricted shower head. It takes about 15 minutes to fill the tub, by which time the water is getting cold. Slow flow thru the shower is okay, but I want a quick fill to the tub. The literature on this Pfister faucet makes no mention of flow rate thru the tub spout. It would be very nice to know. I don't want to get burned again with a poor performing product. One American Standard faucet that I looked at included a graph (picture attached) showing flow rate (gpm) versus inlet pressure (psi) for both the shower outlet and the tub outlet. This kind of information is exactly what I would like to see.

How compatible are different brand faucets ?

I have a 30n year old Delta 3 knob tub/shower system. Hot & Cold knobs plus the bath/shower knob. It doesn't look like Delta even makes this type anymore. Could I replace with a Price Pfister without having to take the whole shower wall apart ?

Customer Reviews

01 Series 3-Handle 1-Spray Tub and Shower Faucet in Polished Chrome is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be careful: bait and switch for discontinued model As another reviewer noted, Home Depot is selling Price Pfister's discontinued Model 01-111, which has compression valves with rubber seals, as the cosmetically identical newer Model 01-311, which has ceramic disk valves. See listing for Pfister 01 Series 3-Handle Tub and Shower Faucet in Polished Chrome-DISCONTINUED. It was impossible to tell that the box contained the discontinued model until we opened the box and disassembled the stem and saw the rubber seal rather than a ceramic disk. The user guide also showed the 01-111 number. If ceramic disk valves are important to you in buying this product, be sure you are not getting this older inventory instead of the product represented in this listing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid valve body Very easy to replace from an old 1959 Amer.Std. tub/shower valve to a modern Pfhister tub/shower valve. I only wished it came with unions and a slip-on compression tub spout. I liked the idea it had a choice of metal or plastic handles and that I could solder on copper pipe or female copper adapters. The Home Depot advertisement say's it's ceramic disc technology but's it's seats and rubber washers. Probably a mis-print. I removed the stems, seats, and washers before solder-on the valve and to flush out any debris before finishing the installation. Good product for the money and I would recommend if you want to replace a 3 valve diverter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It work's but that's about it. It was easy to install. The pressure in the shower is definitely lacking. The faucets need constant adjusting until the temperature stabilizes (don't know if the washers are expanding/contracting until that point). It looks ok and I needed a three handle faucet due to existing tile. Had a Moen before and it was absolute garbage, at least this one works, but that's about it. I could not find another brand in this price range to replace what I had so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid brass valve body Directions lacking on how to secure valve body to existing framing. Need to be creative! Once installed faucet is durable and operates better than expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from price fister My home is 41 years old. It was equipped with Price Fister when I purchased it. This product allowed me to install a new faucet without tearing my wall out; saving me money and allowing me to disassemble the old faucet by replacing every part with new valves and assemblies. It took about 1 hour and saved me hundreds $$$ and hours of work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Updated look This product updated the look in my bathroom nicely. The main drawback I have with it is the water pressure for the shower is much weaker than I like it, for the bath it is fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent faucet, inaccurate online listing Do not trust the specs on the HomeDepot.com item listing or the PDF manual. They seem to have reused the listing for a discontinued model. The actual model that I received was 01-30WV. This is not a ceramic disc faucet; it's actually a compression faucet with rubber washers. The faucet body is made of brass. The chrome handles are metal, and it also comes with clear plastic handles. The nipples for the escutcheons are plastic. The showerhead is also plastic. The tub spout is a front-threaded model. If your original faucet was rear-mounted and has a piece of 2x4 for front blocking, then this faucet won't be deep enough to put the handles on. The depth to finished tile is 1-7/16" to 2-1/8". Luckily, you can buy stem extensions for Price Pfister faucets. I tried two other faucets before I found this one. First, I tried a store brand faucet that was defective. Then, I tried a major national brand that was mostly plastic and couldn't be used on a rear-mounted install. Finally, I tried the Price Pfister faucet. This was the only one that actually worked! If you need to replace a rear-mounted three-handle faucet, this is basically your only choice.
