Customer Questions & Answers

How long are the Stems that come with this valve?

Asked by: Anonymous
I also had concerns about the length of the stems, since the pictures were ambiguous and I often found the provided details inadequate. The stems on my unit extend 4 1/2 inches from the center of the input opening, or 3 1/4 inches from the base that the valve mechanism screws into.

Awesome part I recommend this part due to the fact it's Brass the plastic ones can strip and break easier. The plastic part where the handle fits on is a hassle to keep replacing when you have kids but the bras is much durable and last longer. When you visit the Home Depot in Chesterfield Missouri and you need some help with plumbing accessories Just ask for this guy name Gregg Bennett he helped me and when he was done in about 5 minutes I felt like a pro at plumbing. I really like this home depot

The recommended 1 3/4" holes are more than adequate, but due to a structural element on the front of the center valve it doesn't mount flat, but teeters on the midpoint. I had to notch my mounting board and add shims in the back for proper stable mounting. Somewhat inconvenient and unnecessarily so. The valves seemed to function properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ceramic is durable Retrofitted a 1962 installation with the new style ceramic valves. Excellent improvement compared to the old washers and seats that would fail on a regular basis; very annoying. The designer/engineers deserve some cheers for their efforts. I will stop referring to the old valve as a "pist fister". [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The new valve has ceramic washers compared to robber washers and I feel and hope will outlast me having to do another replacement. The whole process only took thirty minutes after I was able to remove the silicone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a direct replacement This type of valve is not a direct application for most old style p.p valves. The stems are too short to fit through most walls that the old style went into.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Valve Body I chose this valve body, as it was a verbatim replacement for my early 70's assembly. The replacement fit perfectly, and only took a few moments to install. The nice part is that this valve body is a "quarter turn" hot & cold, versus the CW/CCW control of the original. Lastly the use of teflon, etc., will no doubt eliminate the original problem I was unable to rectify...which was I could no longer grind the valve stem seat, within the old valve body. No matter what it still required excessive strength to close, and still had a "drip" anyway. Hopefully I'll be happy with the final result!
