Answer:
Yes - it is a pretty simple operation. Literally push and it will click closed, then push again ant it clicks open. Takes minimal pressure. Similar to tub type drain seal if you have used those before in the shower.

Answer:
Yes! I needed to use the plate since my sink has three holes in it. The plate covered all three holes perfectly. This faucet only uses the center hole so the two on either side are just empty.

Facing the sink, turn the handle the left for max hot water. I found leaving the handle in the middle, gives water at a proper temperature to wash your hands without burning.

The faucet has a two way valve in it, similar to most single lever kitchen valves. Up and to the left for hot, up and to the right for cold, somewhere in the middle for temperate water.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Product I was unsure about this purchase but I'm glad we did. I was concerned about the water flow since I have read so many mixed reviews, however I was very pleased that the water flow is excellent. Keep in mind that it is different from a normal water faucet in the fact that the water runs out the trough instead of being forced downward in a normal faucet. The water flow is perfect to wash, shave, or do just about anything you can do with a normal faucet. The style is a great look for our bathroom. The quality is top notch, and it was very easy to install. I have no complaints and my wife and I really like the design. June 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome upgrade Love this faucet! Install was quick and easy and certainly doable for the novice DIYers. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great Wanted to remodel the bathroom and give it a "Rustic" look. The faucet looks great with the sink we picked out. Works great. easy to install. What more can I say. September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great improvement for our powder room sink! This bathroom faucet and drain looked wonderful from the first time we took it out of the box and started to install it in our new dark wood vanity with a white ceramic sink top. Very classy, Italian look and we now have a really beautiful powder room for our visitors to use. Sort of therapeutic to see the water coming out of what looks like a small version of an old country pump. Definitely a keeper! April 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Second purchase & installation in our new home We ordered and installed these in our old home. Over eight years later, we had two things which we had to replace. The finish on one appeared to chip off of the handle. These faucets are easy to install and have a great warranty which the manufacturer honors without question.(original owner) The only issue you should be aware of is that this faucet does not aerate the water like you're probably used to. This causes it to appear to provide/produce lower water pressure. Therefore, this faucet may initially cause you to use more water until you get used to that aspect. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great I love the finish on this. It looks very high end but didn't break the bank. I ordered it online and it exceeds my expectations February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ashfield bathroom faucet The unit was easy to install. I works great and is ideal for my 1797 home with its old-fashioned look. January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by High end look, low end cost I've only had installed for a few weeks but very happy thus far. They look amazing, good water flow (so far), no complaints at all. The pop-up drain included with this faucet did not work with my low profile copper sinks, luckily I purchased those separately from an online retailer just in case. April 22, 2014
