Will I need teflon tape?

The installation video doesn't show the installer using the white teflon tape around the cold and hot water inlet threads and also the water supply lines. Is the teflon tape not needed to avoid leaks?
Asked by: notaprofessional
No.

I have one of these in a bathroom installed as part of a remodel in late 2013. The handles have been steadily getting more difficult to turn and now the whole thing turns at the surface of the vanity top. I am remodeling 2 more bathrooms ( which have original working faucets from 1987!). I am looking for stylish yet functional faucets in other brands. I see others have reported the same problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk the washers that attach the faucets to the sink are steel. rust forms within weeks after installation and appears between the faucet and sink. After 3 years of trying to keep the rust away I decided to upgrade. The steel washers were so rusted that the corrosion ate through the nickel. The sink had to be removed so the faucets could be cut off. The money I thought I saved on this inexpensive faucet I just spent on 3 hours of labor just trying to remove them. Don't waist your money on Pfister.

That was until now when the water line burst off the faucet & send water flowing throughout the bathroom. These faucets have a cheap plastic nut on the supply lines & that is what burst off. Buy a different brand unless you want your house flooded. I did a lot of research and found this has happened to many others as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look great instruction to install are terrible!!! I recently bought 2 of these faucets and decided to hook them up this past Saturday. 8 hours later, I was done.....with one! The faucet itself looks amazing. The instructions to install the faucet are terrible!!! The instructions are unclear, poor diagrams and they should of included a tool to tighten the bolts but they didn't!!. I am pretty good at home improvement but this was one of the worst things i have ever had to install. The instructions at times lead you to a dead end of unclear diagrams. Its like the person that wrote them decided he/she didn't want to get to granular so they did the bare minimum and you will pay for it. Washers gaskets all are labeled things like f4 or g4 but appear as a circle on the diagram with no clear understanding of if it is a washer or a gasket that goes on. Oh wait they already put it on, no wait they told you to disassemble it all before you install that piece. These are the kind of unclear confusing convoluted instructions you will get when you buy a Pfiester faucet. Good luck and be sure to set aside 8 hours to install. You need all of it!

It was easy to install, but a couple of little things to note. The set comes with a plastic multi-tool to help with tightening everything in place. One thing I noticed is that the tool will NOT be able to tighten the long nut used to tighten the faucet itself in place because the water line to the faucet run directly beside the bolt, this prevents the tool from being used as describe in the included instructions. But it's still easy enough to use an adjustable wrench to tighten it in place. Speaking of which, probably easier to install the faucet first and then the handles in order to allow you easier access to reach in and tighten the faucet in place. After which then do the handles and water lines. One other thing about the plastic multi-tool, it is plastic and it did get to the point while trying to tighten one of the nuts that it did begin to just spin inside the tool. Connecting the water lines was a breeze. The faucet and handles look great, love the drain pop up and the fact that I didn't have to install a handle to activate it. Just simply pushing down on the drain pop-up will either close the drain or open it. This was the cheapest faucet in the 8" size for it's color and I don't see any reason to spend so much more on a different one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disapointed with this faucet., I have three of these in two bathrooms. One is 5 years old and two are 4 years old. All of them have had issues with binding handles which I repaired a few years ago. Today I replaced all three faucets with a different brand. The drains on two of them were rusty as were the nuts which hold the valves in place and all of the pins which raise the pop up's were badly rusted. These Pfister Pasadena faucets look great when they are new but are absolute junk in the long run.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plastic housings break. I am a contractor and we have used Price Pfister products for many years. I still like their other products. This Pasadena faucet has been problematic for us. I have had six of them fail due to the plastic fittings on the supply lines. They are designed so the brass fitting goes inside the plastic connector. This is a design flaw. Metal inside plastic will cause the plastic to break. A plastic fitting need to be inside the metal fitting instead. They were tightened barely more than finger tight. I have had to replace these on several homes where we installed them. I am staying away from the click-fit plastic stuff.

This was purchased to replace an existing 3 year old Pasadena 8 in faucet which had failed when the cold water faucet froze up. We liked its looks so bought what we thought to be an exact replacement. Above the sink, it is identical, but underneath, it is much different. Hopefully it will be longer lasting. It was quite easy to install. We attempted to remove the old faucets for repair, but were frustrated by the large locking nut which could not be turned by conventional plumbing tools. Finally, we found a large socket, used for hot water heater element removal, which fit. Be certain to save the large plastic tubular nut driver which comes with the faucet for possible future removal.
