Customer Questions & Answers

How do you adjust the water temperature when you are showering? Is there a pause feature on the showerhead? Does the PVC hose hang down straight?

Asked by: Anonymous
The dial turns counterclockwise from off (6:00) to hot (about 2:00). It turns fairly easily, my six year old daughter can now turn it on and off easily. The pull out style we replaced was too hard for her but also that valve was 30 years old so I am sure it was very sticky. The valve is adjustable and comes pre-adjusted to prevent it from going to full hot. Our contractor adjusted our so 3:00 is just right for us. The PVC hose for us does not hang straight down but sticks out about 3 inches. Not sure it is advertised as a pause feature but if you turn the sprayer dial all the way to the right it will shut off, but it does drip quite a bit.

What parts are metal and what parts are plastic? Do I need to buy a valve or is it included?

Asked by: Anonymous
Most parts are plastic. The parts that count are metal. The valve is included. The hose and shower head assembly appear to be plastic. It is actually difficult to tell if the part is plastic because the metal pieces are so thin they have the same feel as the plastic, at least to me. I had to use a magnet to see which parts were metal. We found the same model but without the hose at the local home depot so you can see the valve and determine if the quality is up to your standards.

Pfister model 8P8-PDHC can be installed as shower only. Please see the installation instructions for the shower valve for shower only.

Does this come with trim kit and control valve with stops?

Asked by: Riverrat
This model #8P8-PDHK does come with both the control valve and trim kit. However the control valve included in this trim does not have stops.

Customer Reviews

Pasadena Single-Handle Tub/Handshower in Polished Chrome is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Faucet handle and temperature control not good Like other reviewers, I found the handle wobbly. It doesn't turn smoothly - it is jerky and jumps. It also doesn't have great temperature control, it goes from cool right to slightly hot, with no warm temperature option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handle feels cheap ,too much wobble . I bought this because my kitchen faucet is same brand and excellent quality. The handle is too far from flange ( one inch ) and handle is too wobbly. I'm afraid it will break off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Update on my earlier review As I mentioned in the earlier review, the handle on my Pasadena tub/shower fixture seemed loose and flimsy. I even tried a new shower valve - results the same. After several conversations with Pfister customer support (Wendy F.), the solution to my problem is to install a "secure handle". In this case the secure handle was actually a handle from the Avalon collection. This handle indeed has much better support and works well with the Pasadena valve. It looks great too! Many thanks to Pfister customer support, specifically Wendy F. for working with me to identify a solution. I now have a great tub/shower fixture!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks nice but performance is okay at best I purchased this about 18 months ago. Decision based on in store availability, price and appearance. Installed myself with some adjustments to the suggested mounting depth after reading the numerous reviews about wobbling handles. Had i mounted it per manufacture instructions the trim flange would have not been flush. The handle would have also stuck out significantly more. Even with the increased mounting depth there was still wobble to the handle but otherwise worked as expected, nothing amazing. Recently the water stopped turning off completely unless you really cranked on the handle. Now the water turns off okay but the handle spins 360 degrees. Pulled the trim pieces off and found that the cartridge is not aligned, the black retaining ring (it limits handle movement) had popped out and the outer cartridge ring was bent out of shape. All these pieces are made of plastic (which is expected since its not a pricy faucet). While researching a replacement cartridge it appears it may be under warranty - that's fortunate. Also looks as if this new fit kit may assist with the handle wobble. Like many of the other reviewers I also have a tile wall so complete replacement to a new valve is not an option I wish to pursue. Hoping Pfister stands behind this product and helps me get things fixed. Can't recommend this product or this company until that happens.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Handle wobbles Last year I purchased a Pfister 8P8-PDKK system for my tub surround. I have done a complete remodel of the bathroom and it has taken 1 1/2 years. Last night I finally finished several months of tiling and completed the trim flange install on my 8P8-PDKK valve body. I was astonished to find that with the handle installed, the valve stem flexes in all directions. It feels that it will break off at any minute. The only fix I would have would be to rip out the tile and wall and remove the Pfister product. The prospect of this is heartbreaking.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plastic keeps breaking on handheld extension and now Valve cracked! Plastic broke 2 times on handheld assembly and today the plastic valve assembly cracked while we were shutting the water off, and now the valve handle rotates 180 degrees without any stop. Luckily we are able to turn the water off by manipulating the handle until the water turns off. Customer service was able to replace the parts both times however you have to wait 7-14 days for the parts to arrive. Plastic in shower/tub faucets are cheap and should not be used, shame on you Pfister for using these terrible parts in manufacturing this tub kit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Totally disappointed with shower handle Purchased the brushed nickel finish at Home Depot and had it installed by professional plumber. As noted by other reviewers on this site, the shower handle is a total joke!!! It sticks out a good inch from the wall( Rather than flush) and is wobbly and very susceptible to being snapped off if something catches on to it. Who was the dummy to make such a stupid design, and why would Home Depot sell it?? Apparently, Home Depot has known about this flawed design for over a year and half, yet still sell it knowingly, why? Looking for a prompt reply from HD and/or the manufacturer Pfister
