Design Flaw?

I just bought this set in store yesterday, and am now looking at the reviews online. I keep reading that the handle is too heavy and will actually shut the water off by itself. Is this an inherent issue with this design? Or is it an installation problem? I just want to make sure I wont have this installed just to have to sit and hold the handle in place while I take a shower! Thanks!

I just installed this trim kit and the handle is too heavy- it does shut the water off. I have Pfister sending me a few different handle options and I also have Delta sending me an "adjustment ring" that will supposedly add friction to the new valve ball we just installed. I'm wondering where you found others commenting on the handle being too heavy? I've been looking online to see if others found a solution that I haven't thought of, but can't even find many folks writing about it being an issue. Help? Thanks!

Is the handle supposed to tilt up and down to turn water on and off?

Is the tub spout the screw on or slip on type?

Asked by: boot
There are two slip-on adapters and two screw-on options. I ended up reusing the adapter from my old spout, though. The primary screw-on option requires about 4" extension from the wall. My threads are less than 1" from the wall. If you have a few inches of 1/2" copper coming out of the wall you should be set. The bottom line is that the spout itself is threaded. Either your pipe or an extension will need to thread into it.

Universal Single-Handle Tub and Shower Faucet Trim Kit in Polished Chrome (Valve Not Included) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 80.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Universal I think it's "ALMOST" universal, but wasn't for us. It's very pretty looking and if it will work with what you're replacing, I think you'd be very happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loose Handle Fix On testing this set, it was found that the handle would not stay in the desired position, to control hot and cold, but kept falling towards the 6 o'clock position, due to gravity. We researched and found several complaints regarding the same problem. We took the handle apart and examined the differing parts. We identified that a black plastic ring that fits over a white piece of plastic was the culprit, in that the black ring slid too easily around the white plastic. My wife suggested a couple of wraps of electric tape around the white plastic to enlarge it and provide more resistance to the black ring. We tried it, and its working. The handle now stays in place as desired. Time will tell if its a permanent fix, but so far so good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unfortunate bad design flaw We bought this to replace the trim on our standard moen bath faucet. We loved the style. The installation instructions were easy to follow and we had the new trim installed with no problems. Unfortunately, to its downfall, the handle is solid metal and because of the design, the actual handle sticks out about five inches from the wall.... the weight of the handle coupled with the distance applies substantial torque when it is turned to the side, and the handle simply cannot stay in any position other than perpendicular to the floor. Thus it is impossible to adjust the temperature of our shower. We plan to return once we can locate another kit in oil rubbed bronze.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful upgrade! I bought this last year (2014). I had it for about 3-4 months and the finish began to peal. I was prett disappointed after spending a good amount of money on his to complete my bathroom update, but low and behold...Pfister's customer service and their dedication to backing their products paid off. I called, and with no questions asked the rep preceded to order me a replacement. Definitely THE BEST customer service I've experienced! Needless to say, it must have been a fluke, because the replacement has posed no problem as and the finish remains true. I told my wife that we are officially Pfister loyal customers! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install & works great Coming out of the box, I noticed the handle had not-quite-a-scratch-but-some-rubbing-marks on it. Not a huge deal because they won't be noticed by anyone but me. The instructions read to identify which Moen, Pfister, or Delta valve you have and to go from there. The installation was fairly simple even though I don't have a Moen, Delta, or Pfister valve. Everything still fit nicely. The showerhead has great waterflow! Our water pressure is terrible & I was surprised to see the flow when I turned on the water. I have not had any problems with a loose handle or anything like that. Overall, the thing: 1. Looks great! 2. Was easy to install 3. Works great! What else could you ask for?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Ensemble It's beautiful! Great features looks and feels high quailty and at a fair price. It was easy to install the instuctions were written in readable terms. With pictures to follow. With my somewhat low dIY skills, I got it attached in less than an hour. I didn't need an expensive plumber to do any work. The look is great..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade to Delta knobs I had plastic delta knobs, which used to break every now and then and a replacement knob costs about $10, I replaced with this Pfister metal handle, which looks awesome and is very easy to install, easier to operate than a knob, even the pout looks great as compared to the plastic pout I had earlier, I didn't change my shower pipe as I'm a beginning DIYer and don't want to touch any plumbing which is inside wall, even partly. I would highly recommend this if you have a delta 600 valve with diamond stem.
