Customer Questions & Answers

what type of screen material is best/

We are fixing some rotten wood on our screen porch, I was thinking of replacing all the screen. I think the screen on there is about 35 years old and I think it is metal. it doesn't look bad, a few holes, I was wondering if a person would go fiberglass? taking into consideration that there is vines that grow on the screen and when they get overwhelming they get ripped off. The screen porch is attached to the house, so in nice weather the screen porch door is open to the house and that attracts those very small insects into the house if its dark and the lights are on in the house. Any recommendations for what material I should be choosing?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Varying quality I purchased a 25' and 84" lengths of this screen. I used the 25' first and really liked it. It seemed easier to work with than New York Wire's version. However, the 84" roll was unevenly cut and the center was stretched downward, so the horizontal lines made a notable curve. I stretched and fudged it into position and then discovered that the screen at the other end of the roll was folded over itself. In addition, the 25' roll was wrapped in plastic to make a sleeve. I easily got it out by tearing the end open and sliding the screen out. The 84" roll was wrapped in something like Saran wrap preventing easy removal. I had to unwind all the wrap -- which took longer than it sounds -- to access the screen. If the second roll was like the first, I would have rated it five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Expected! I use this with a staple gun to have my own screen and it works pretty well!
