We already have this and hoping it will work for this so we don't have to buy something else.

Answer:
You can do it but, it us not recommend, due to the fact that the install if screen in HVAC vents will restrict air flow, and will effect the the life of your HVAC and it's performance.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by rips very easy While putting in the screen it would tear. I was just pushing it in with my finger and the screen would rip. I have installed many screens, but this screen, would tear so easy. The first time it ripped I thought it was me using the tool to hard. Took it out started over. Next being very careful I was just pushing it in with my finger and the screen torn again. Buy a different brand. This one isn't any good. Very Poor quality won't last. July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Complete Kit This kit included everything I needed to repair a ripped storm door screen. November 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I DID IT and so can you! Pretty easy! I was given as estimate for $75 to have 2 screens rescreened at Toledo Glass. Ouch!! I went to Home Depot and bought one of these kits instead. It was easy to do and I felt such a sense of satisfaction to have done each screen for around $4 all by myself. When I went to HD this was the only kit left, but when I got it home, it happened to have the spline missing (maybe someone returned it and forgot to put the spline back). Fortunately, I was able to just put in my old spline and voila! Just like new. I had watched a couple of youtube videos a few weeks before I tried this. Don't pay a fortune to have it done, just go to Home Depot and get one of these kits. YOU can do it! I would give 5 stars, if it weren't for the missing spline. April 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to install The screens were easy to install and they look great. June 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap and Easy! My screen door has been ripped for over a year and I put off replacing it because I was afraid of how difficult it would be to do. I wish I had tackled this project sooner. I learned by watching a youtube video. It really was very easy to replace! It's nice that the kit comes with the spline and the tool. The next time I have a rip in my screen, I'll head back to HD and buy this kit again. April 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Everything needed for quick, quality repair of sliding screen door. I would buy it again. March 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to work with Alot easier to work with than the wire screen and doesn't leave that much of a crease if you have to do it over. It is a bit more delicate than the wire screen so just be extra careful when installing spline. When using 5/16 aluminum screen the trick I found when putting spline is to "feed" the screen so there won't be to much tension that the screen pulls on the frame warping the rectangular frame. The 7/16 is a lot stronger and actually holds rectangular frame better but my window tracks aren't wide enough for those. Good product. July 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheapest way to resrceen your window! Rubber seal and screen tool hidden and jammed inside screen tube roll. Packaging of this product is very poor but everything was there and worked fine to do my rescreen job. I would buy this product again if needed. October 22, 2014
