Customer Questions & Answers

How is the best way to mount from the inside? Tried industrial Velcro and it didn't hold.

Asked by: Ashep
Install it on a roller (wooden dowl or thin pvc pipe) then place it in a curtain rod holder at the top of your window, roll it up and down as you desire it. Attach something at the bottom of the screen to serve as a weight to keep it in place or just let it hang freely. Whatever works best.

What is the best screen for privacy.

I want to change the screens on my windows. I want to be able to see out but not for my neighbors to see in. I'm dying with the windows closed. Please help! Thanks!
Asked by: Sam
I don't know about the very best, but the Super Solar Screening is very good at that. But it is also good a blocking airflow, in case that is important to you.

my porch is hot with this screen

what do I need to do
Asked by: sonny
I suppose deflecting both wind and rain has some 'disadvantages' in that less wind coming through could allow heat to build up inside. To me, the privacy and wind/rain deflection are worth the difference from standard screening. My solution was the addition of ceiling fans for the warmer months. We spend a good deal of time on our porch during cooler weather and the Solar Screening helps in reverse then with a small space heater.

How do I determine the Spline thickness

Is there a simple easy method of determining the needed Spline thickness?
Asked by: Rocky
Had to go thru the same issue. What i did is but various sizes - most of them have a hole at one end of the cover. Try to get the spline out thru the hole and try to fit it into the frame. Return the rest There may be a better ways to do this - but this is what i did

48 in. x 25 ft. Charcoal Super Solar Screen is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best screen i Live in the mission, tx or (RGV) so our summers are hot. at 1am the temp is around 83 degrees and in the day its from 100 to 110 easy. it so hot, we have contest to see whos eggs cooks the fastest on the street, no joke :) thses super solar screen are the best since i have in put them in my house is a lot cooler and my ac unit doesn't run as mush. plus you really can see in but you can see out with no problem. ill be honost i dont have the money to do all my window at one time, thats to expensive. i did two windows at a time over a course of 4 months, i have 10 big windows. but it is worth it cuz my electric bill went down from 180 to 100-120.

Our old shade screens were deteriorating and this seemed to be the best product for replacing them. It has exceeded my expectations. I could tell the difference in rooms that faced west. Definitely reduces heat radiating through the windows. Easy to work with when using recommended tools and spline.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blocks airflow This may block solar heat as advertised, but it also almost completely blocks airflow. If you don't care to have airflow through this screen then you will probably like it. I would only use it on a window I never opened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product All the details/specifications provided by the manufacturer about this product are accurate. Before, the heat transfer alone on the window frame was enough to burn you hands despite running a/c inside. There is no heat transfer on the window casing, thus reducing my energy consumption. It is difficult to see into the home from outside at night, and impossible during the day. Yet you can still see outside at anytime. The product is substancially cheaper at my local store. Online availability shouldn't deter you from checking your local store, my store carries the 36" roll despite stating online that they do not. If you intend to open your windows, I would recommend setting a box fan in the window seal to create a draft. The close knit design of this material doesn't flow air as freely as traditional aluminum screening. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to cool their home inexpensively. You will begin seeing savings on your utilities the moment you install. I was using 110Kwh per day, now using 60-80kwh whereas without running my a/c at all I draw 33-34kwh per day. By cutting off the a/c in which I have done, I have reduced my energy bill by approximately 66%

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it advertises We had installed solar screening on our house windows and noticed a big difference. We then decided to do our screen room , but had to special order because of the large size. We received the screens within one week and they look great after we installed them..We could not be happier...
